What's the best playing guitar you've ever picked up?

Re: What's the best playing guitar you've ever picked up?

This is an easy one... My #1 player - '91 USA Jackson Soloist

no offence but that is really horrendous looking!:eyecrazy:

most people say that of the guitars I like (and some I own). funny, since i don't like most 'standard' guitars either. :)

Re: What's the best playing guitar you've ever picked up?

Back when I was playing bass I used to have an Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass. That thing had the nicest neck I've ever played. It was just a pleasure to play. Too bad I never was able to bond with the tone. I think that 9v preamp just didn't suit my style. But man, what a comfortable bass.

All of the Parkers I have owned.

And believe it or not, the Ibanez AWD82 I bought from Theodie. That is my favorite neck.

Even though I love my ESP LTD M-15, I have to say that my all time favorite, is my 2006 USA made, Fender 60th Anniversary Commemorative Stratocaster. This is without a doubt, the best playing guitar that I have ever played in over 36 years of playing. It has 57/62 vintage pickups with a really slim neck that I can do some real Bluesy licks on. I've had this for over a year now and would never get rid of it. I bought it from one of my friends for only $800.00, and that was only because he needed the coin.

My '99 PRS, McCarty is the best playing guitar I've ever played or owned. I was not a fan of PRS guitars until I discovered this one hanging on the used rack at a store in Des Moines.

I need to take some better pictures of it.

these les pauls. If I were to own just 10 guitars, these 4 would surely be part of the collection (also included are my 3 crimsons, my first warmoth, and my last 2 warmoths, but 10 is just so little a number :( )

Re: What's the best playing guitar you've ever picked up?

Hmmm Either a 76 Gibson Thunderbird or a 78 4001 Rickernbacker

Re: What's the best playing guitar you've ever picked up?

'82 Ibanez Artist custom shop. Best player I've ever touched , period. Lots of others who have played it say the same thing. I've owned about everything out there over the years and for me, this is the one. Through a convoluted series of trades and selling guitars for more than I paid, I think I probably "paid" about 205-300 for it. It is the one I will not sell.

Re: What's the best playing guitar you've ever picked up?

I love the way my uncle's '73 Tele plays. It looks pretty cool too; the transparent white has yellowed very nicely over the years.

I love the back shape of the large headstock Fender YJM Strats...wish I could get one of those non-scalloped.

Of my own guitars my '75 Strat has the best feel of all of them. Sounds great as well.

Re: What's the best playing guitar you've ever picked up?

Either my old Parker Nitefly or the Music Man 25th Anniversary I picked up at Guitar Center once. I loved that thing so much that I swore to myself I'd have it (or preferably a Reflex) someday soon.

Re: What's the best playing guitar you've ever picked up?

I've been looking at this thread, wondering how to answer it. Jeez, there's just SO many, and all with some formula for 'best playing' that it's even more hard to judge since I don't like 9's with shredder action.

So Jolly's answer is probably my favorite. "The ones I set up for myself."

And amongst my best playing are...

35th Anniversary LP Custom Black Beauty
2001 LP Std. Prem Plus
2008 SG Diablo
2007 ES-335
Every PRS I've ever owned.

As for ones in a shop, I tried an Anderson Classic T that was orgasmic.

Re: What's the best playing guitar you've ever picked up?

A Parker NiteFly SA (Swamp Ash) I owned briefly had an amazing neck that played effortlessly straight from the factory. That guitar sold me on the idea of stainless steel frets forever...I'll take them if I can get them! Unfortunately, I sold it on to get a "real" (i.e. more expensive) neck-thru Parker and I've regretted it ever since...no Parker I've touched played like that bolt-on Swamp Ash NiteFly!

My Jackson Kevin Bond signature Rhoads is a lifetime keeper and plays smoother than I can. Some of the newer Charvels are amazing, as well.

Rounding out the rest of the top players I've put my hands on were a Fernandes Raven Elite, a Fernandes Vortex, an Ibanez Talman TC825 and a few early-'90s (Made in Japan) Ibanez S540 and S570 custom models...most of those still play and sound amazing today!

Re: What's the best playing guitar you've ever picked up?

My Carvin C-6 is at the top of the heap for playability though most of my guitars are pretty comfy to play. the least comfortable to play would be my epi Les Paul. I just need to do some set up work on it. Just been to busy.

Re: What's the best playing guitar you've ever picked up?

Some years back there was a white LP Custom at a guitar show I picked up and played for a bit. It was by far the best playing LP I ever touched. Everything just sang that I played. The sustain was sick. Sadly it's way out of my price range for some of those. A really close second is an EBMM EVH Model that I almost bought until I looked at the bills for that month.

The best playing one I own is the one I assembled, Franky.

My 86' MIJ 72 tele. Miss that thing so much. The CIJ one i have now just isn't the same...

Re: What's the best playing guitar you've ever picked up?

I don't know if I can pinpoint "the one," but I'm pretty safe assuming is was a Strat. Strats always feel like home.
