The Dimarzio D-Sonic was designed for Drop-D style tunes. Supposed to be quite tight.

I was quite enjoying my Lil Screamin' Demon and my Tele Hotrails today for some Drop D-ing...

I would go Invader for tight drop tunings with seymour duncan. Also a Dime and Distortion. What kind of guitar are we talking about too? You have to figure that certain woods factor in the sound of a pickup as well.
