What's under Duncan's gold cover?

I'm looking for a used '59B 4-conductor, with black coils. There don't seem to be any around right now, but I found a gold one for a good price. What's under the cover? Double-black coils perhaps?

IS there any potting of other goey stuff that I would have to clean off if I were to remove the cover?

There will be wax, and no telling what colors the coils will be. Unless the seller had the cover off, and can verify them, you are just taking a chance.

Just wax and not an obscene amount of it either.

chances are its double black but could be any of the combinations

Thanks for the replies, but the question is now moot. One of our esteemed members contacted me about a ‘59 Trembucker that he has available.
