What's With All The Klon Hoo-Hah

Re: What's With All The Klon Hoo-Hah

No matter how good the player, the impossibility of his/her fretting, picking and strumming precisely the same when switching between the pedals has to be considered.

+1. When I was touring one of the major pickup companies they had a device in the shop/lab that mechanically strummed the strings of a guitar to ensure the attack would be the same every time. It had a slot to slide different pickups in and out. Pretty cool device.

Cool. Now that's a good way to take some of the wild factors out of the equation.

Re: What's With All The Klon Hoo-Hah

The problem with guitar is that all the research required is purely qualitative and by it's very nature subjective, that doesn't translate too well into written words. It doesn't matter how scientific an approach you take to obtaining the data, the end result is almost never hard and fast with way too many variables to be considered scientific. There's also the issue of "There is no difference in tone" versus "Your ears just aren't good enough to hear it" and worse "The difference is a matter of feel and can't be recorded".

Psychology plays big part in it surely. Especially the latter. Difference can be attributed to you playing better, because you have good feel about it. That's something I think is impossible to rule out no matter how "zen" you are about your playing.

Re: What's With All The Klon Hoo-Hah

Have to admit, if I had $2k or so to spend on a pedal, I'd buy an original Klon. Bragging rights.

But it be something I only used for recording and playing at home. I'd probably stick with a Klone for any playing outside of strictly controlled circumstances.

Re: What's With All The Klon Hoo-Hah

If I were worth a couple billion dollars I wouldn't buy an original Klon Centaur. There are just way too many important and expensive lust worthy items that I would blow my money on. :D

Re: What's With All The Klon Hoo-Hah

If I had enough money to buy a million of them? Yeah, I’d get one.
