What's your choice

Ooooh, I had a single cutaway Starfire back in 1980 or 1981. Put a super distortion in it, lolol. Come on, I was an 18yo rocker. I loved that guitar. Not familiar wiih the Gretsch but center block I'd assume would be quite a different tone if the Starfire is still a hollow body.

I love the Guild but the only reason I lean towards the Gretch is the 24 fret Guild and the Gretch is a 21 which is what I'm used to.

I guess it would depend on the sound I was going after.

Who knows, I'm not knowledgeable or experienced enough to walk into a guitar shop and pick out a guitar that would do what I want by playing through their equipment amps. Nowadays I just order them and if it's not what I wanted, I wait 6 months or a year or two and try again while I y
try to gain experience by trying ardently to identify with my last mistake.

Damn, 2 of my very favorite..

If you want deep and breathy, sparkly, tasty -like a soundscape and more honky tonk, golden era rock -Probably Gretsch.

If you want warmer more mid range, more pure harder rock -Probably Starfire

Well barring any bad shit happening, in September I'm dropping $500 a month in my bills. Of course that doesn't mean it's all going to gear but things will definitely be a little more relaxed.

You mean you got the Strat INSTEAD of either the Gretsch or Guild? Wow, that's not even close to the sound of either of those. Not to say it's not a great sound in and of itself...I love my Am. Strat.

Yeah I got the strat and I just ordered another one with a slightly different appointments to mod out.

I still want the Gretch and or the Guild but they can stay on the back burner until I pay these off.

Hahahaha. Mere trivialities. Do you really think that would help? I have two old Squiers and still misspell them, the same with my Tagimas.
