What's your favorite Eminence speaker?

In my case, I run my V-Amp Pro into a Peavey 50+50 valve amp, then to an open back enclosure with two 12" Eminence Cannabis Rex.

I feel I can play any kind of music with'em...

What 'bout you?

well, i think Emis are just a step below great speakers like Celestion, EV's and Tone Tubby or probably even Weber and I have had issues with them blowing and going bad , but they fixed one speaker for me under warranty (the blown one) and the one thats messed up and flubs out i dont know if they will fix it, but it will cost me 15 bucks to send it.I reaaly never have has an issue with any of my Celestions.
Eminence are very good sounding speakers though if you get the right model.I'sd like to try the Cannibis Rex. The Tonkers I already have and like. Ramrods I also have and they sound very good.

Me likey stonery metal. Me already love the EVM-12L. So the Swamp Thang adds the extra "floor" from a sealed cabinet. :D

With all due respect Jerryg there's no way Eminence is a step below Celestion, Webers or Tone Tubby! I think I usually agree with your opinions but on this I can't. Never even heard of a problem with Eminence speakers which is more than I can say for Weber or Celestion. While I like Celestion I find that Eminence offers a wider range of tones. From vintage to modern and British to American. Very well made and sounds fantastic.

Budda Amplification designed their Phat speakers and those are manufactured by Eminence. They are some of the best speakers I have ever heard! Budda amps are also reliable as the best out there. As for the subject of this thread, I like all Eminence speakers. It depends on the application but they're all great!

i use emi red fang, lil buddy, cannabis rex, and tonker right along my celestion g12m, g12h, and v30. they are great speakers.

Re: What's your favorite Eminence speaker?

I think Eminence speakers are a step below Celestions too.

When Curly and I were at NAMM we played through every available Eminence.

All the Emi 12's were very good...but none were quite as good as my favorite Celestions, nor did the Emi "clones" of my favorite Celestions sound exactly like the Celestions.

I liked the Wizard, Governor, and Texas Heat when I played through them at the Emi booth at NAMM. But as mentioned, I like my Celestions better: G12h30, G12-65 and alnico G12 blue or silver.

I look to Eminence first when it comes to speakers.

There are few Celestion's that have a top end that sits well with my ear. Those would be the CL80 and the G12-65, of course that would be utterly application dependent. Generalizing is never good to do because it leads to close-mindedness.

It starts with the Emi's Governor or Legends for me. No V-turdy spike. :)

Re: What's your favorite Eminence speaker?

I love the Red Fangs. Thinking about getting a 4x12 of them even. By far my favorite speaker I have tried so far for clean or distortion.

Re: What's your favorite Eminence speaker?

Eminence has a lot of great speakers and a lot of good speakers, I feel like their Celestion clones fall a tad short of the real deal most of the time but they are still great speakers, are very well priced, they have great QC and are made in America.

:fingersx: do you work for budda? man, you recommend their stuff more than I do....:bigok: i'd say the budda phat 12 is my favorite eminence speaker. my budda 4x12 even makes my line 6 bearable to play through. anyway i wasnt impressed with the celestions that came in the line 6 or the vintage 30 that came in my isolation cab. when i recorded my bands cd i ended up taking a phat 12 out of the budda cab and using that. huge sound difference....

I had a tonker Crap out. And I had a lil Buddy blow . Some threads Ive heard elsewhere do claim the Emi hempcones did have issues with with blowing, of course, that was just a small percentage, but nontheless it was reported.
Ive never heard anything bad about the Red Fang, and since its so expensive, they probably put more qality inot its production.Red Fangs are about the best loved Eminence spekers for tweeds and stuff.
Eminence replaced a blown little buddy I had, but Ive heard the clips on the Cannibis Rex and it sounds much better to me so Im probably selling the Lil Buddy and grabbing a couple of Cannibis Rexs for a 2X12 cabinet.

LOL! No, just sell them! I met someone who does the same thing with his Budda 1x12 cab. I think the Phat speakers are very impressive. Koch amps have their own speaker design and it's manufactured by Jensen. Koch also has stellar sounding speakers.

My Marshall JVM came stock w Celestion v30 & heritage speakers. First upgrade I had planned was to throw a couple of Eminence speakers in there to see if I could improve it a little. As soon as I have an extra Budda cab in stock I'm going to try it. Seems to me like it will give the amp the extra low end and clarity it lacks.

Re: What's your favorite Eminence speaker?

Mixing a Governor with a Tonker is a good choice for an open-back combo
They compliment each other nicely

Note: BIG magnets. Make sure you have room if you go with either.

Re: What's your favorite Eminence speaker?

It's pretty difficult to blow a speaker, unless it is used inappropriately. Then it is easy. Of the 4 different Eminence speaker models I have, I think I like the Legend 105 the best. But I like them all for different reasons.

I utterly agree that most of the clones don't quite hit the mark. The WGS Veteran is the closest I have heard, and I have (2) V30's, one being much newer than the other, that sound quite different. The WGS Veteran (Vintage renamed) falls in between the two.

I know most fans of V30's mostly find that V30 sound in a real V30. But if you look at it from the perspective of a person where the V30 makes my hearing tired very fast, and makes me really want to escape the V30 as soon as possible, a V30-"like" speaker can be a good thing. What may be missing may be the "bad". Most of the clones don't feature the spike of the V30, that I have heard.

The reason someone doesn't want something may be the reason the next guy does.

We do have lots of speaker options these days don't we. :)

Don't forget to check out the WGS speakers LtKojak.

Re: What's your favorite Eminence speaker?

I never used to be a fan of Eminence speakers, but I have a pair of Private Jacks (G12M-25 clone) in an open back 2x12 that I really like. I also just installed a set of Wizards (G12H) in my Buzz Bomb and I absolutely love them. If I have to pick just one, the Wizards are my fave.
