What’s your favorite pedal?

Has to be something you’ve played, preferably something you’ve owned.

I don’t have extensive pedal experience, but there’s something about the Carbon Copy that makes me happy when it’s engaged.

For single pedals, I dig the BYOC 5 Knob Compressor, and the SD 805. I've been using a few different multi-effects lately, and my fav is the Line 6 HX Effects.

If I could only keep one pedal it would probably be the VFE Ice Scream Overdrive.

7db mid-boost right off the bat (first in the circuit), and you can set it's center-point with that Mid knob (not your typical "mid" knob)

three separate clipping modes and a diode-lift setting (internal dip switches)

hpf and lpf controls (hi-cut/low-cut) let you set your own shelving parameters

standard boost/cut tone control (internally set the frequency value, somewhere near the middle is around 3.2k iirc, I set it lower because I generally boost)

additional internal trim-pots for input impedance and bulb brightness to go along with the tone-value adjustment

true-bypass w/built-in voltage-pump and the awesome feeling Carling footswitch

There's a link on here for a byoc kit.

I don't have favorites. I either like them or I don't. That being said, closest thing would be a Boss NS2. It's not fun or exciting or even nice looking, but you can take away every other pedal om my board and I could still deliver something passably interesting. You take away the noise gate and there won't be a show. High gain amps in a confined space and tight-stop-riffs - not an ideal combination.

Do you run your's using the 4-cable method?
I like mine even better since I started using the 4-cable.
First pedal after guitar and the first pedal in the amp's loop, that way the delay, reverb, tremolo and looper/beats all do their things without impairment.

EH's Electric Mistress. I've had four over the last thirty or so years. The first looked like this. Got it and an ancient Musitronics Phasor III for fifty bucks. (The Phasor was a big and heavy box of swirly goop and Lord did it sound amazing too.)

The next looked like this and was noticeably bigger but had a built in power supply so that was a plus.

The third was sort of a turd.

Wasn't the same sound. Close mind you but close wasn't worth five cents in my mind. Acquired a Hartman clone soon after. It was much much closer but still not quite the real deal. The skinny was it was supposedly a clone of the original EM of which perhaps my ancient first box was a later iteration...I dunno but it was a good toy, built like a tank and still works just fine.

Now I'm sitting on this tiny dancer and I'm holding it close.

All the sound, none of the level drop and 1/4 the size. Just like the originals, set all the knobs at 9 o'clock and forget them. THIS is what a flanger should do.

I am torn to say it is my favorite pedal but I guess it is in a peculiar, round about way. It is my most necessary pedal (rack unit for live stereo rig) I have. You have no proper rig until you eliminate noise IMO.

I have a thing for fuzz and reverb pedals

Right now its the super saturated
Caline Snake Bite reverb pedal

last week it waa the EH Octavix octave fuzz

Next week it may be something else

Boss DC-2W. Chorus is the effect I am most picky with, with my tastes veering towards effects that enhance the tone rather than leave their mark as effects. The DC-2W only has four buttons, but each of these somehow manages to capture an eminently useful sound, and it manages to be more prominent clean than with distortion, meaning that I am usually happy to leave it on - and that is the highest praise I can give any pedal. The Waza version adds a few functions to the original that are nice but that I could live without, but more importantly it resolves the headroom issues of the original.

Holy Mother of Tube Screamers Batman!!!!!

That smokes the 805 - sorry Duncan....

My favorite is my Boss TU-3. Being in tune is important, and most of the time (probably around 90%), I'm just using my Twin Jet's distortion as my only "effect".

If I had to choose something that affects the sound, it'd be my VFE Standout, which has become by far my favorite way of boosting any 2203-ish amp.

Sure do.

Wah, tuner, comp, NS2, amp in, FX send, trem, mod, boost, NS2, Del, Rev, FX return.

At least that's how I think it goes. Can't say for sure without looking at my board's label of contents

Hard to pick really. I'll have to go with something I haven't decided to get rid of. Big Muff Ram's Head does it for me.

That's a great pick! (Along with the Boss DD3). I've got a noise reduction pedal on each of my boards. I don't have the Decimator anymore, sold that one, but definitely a great pedal and a good pick!

Do you find yourself tweaking the numerous parameters regularly or do you have decided set and forget?

I make small adjustments depending on the pickups and amp mostly. The internals basically are left alone, usually just the front knobs get tweaked.

Neaunaber Immerse reverb. From subtle spring to ambient bliss with the Wet setting and one of the best shimmer settings I have ever heard. Single space relatively inexpensive pedal that is fantastic!!

Running the WET setting on my Immerse here in the loop of my PRS MT 15 with a little Delay from an old DD3.
