I really fell in love with my (very underrated) Boss RE-20.

Delay with 'verb - love it.

if only i could have explained to u why i loooved spring reverb, i would :8:

Re: What's your favorite reverb type for guitar?

Do this over. Choices should be:

Spring
Room
Hall
Plate
Reverb + Delay
Delay
Dry

And it depends on the application. I usually Jazz with room, Rock with hall, play live with delay, and really love Delay + Reverb for Metal, but often just use the spring in the amp.

My POD has a good stereo digital verb with echorec-style modulation which I adore. I like delay and verb combined for max lushness.

for distortion I put on the bare minimum of time mod. Maybe a smidge of room to juice up the signal a bit.

My #1 is Room. An actual room. Short of that, I'll take a convolution of a good room, and last I'll settle for a good digital simulation of a room.

Re: What's your favorite reverb type for guitar?

Large Hall for medium to high distortion but the spring on my old Pro Reverb is great for low range grind to pristine clean. The more room between notes I tend to dial things up wetter.

Re: What's your favorite reverb type for guitar?

I can't justify myself dishing out the cash for such a subtle effect, and I think delay can easily be a bit too much or too little of an effect, so I run the amp dry. But I think hall reverb sounds the best.

I like to swell pads and soundscapes, so I like deep and lush reverbs. Landed on the Neunaber WET, it's truly amazing.

Re: What's your favorite reverb type for guitar?

I am equal opportunity. Spring is awesome for adding a little air to your tone, plate is great for the VH tone and room/hall is perfect for gigantic cavernous reverbs. Those last two are decidedly "effects" though, so my number one choice is a spring tank.

Re: What's your favorite reverb type for guitar?

I think plate sounds the nicest, though on most devices I'm prone to using hall more. Then, I fatten it up with some delay and get those huge sounding ambient tones.

I will say that my least favourite is spring. It sounds good as an 'effect' (if I'm going for an old blues or country sound) but I don't like the tone of it as a 'natural' or thickening element.

Re: What's your favorite reverb type for guitar?

Plate is great as a tone-shaping tool because it doesn't impart a "dimension" to the sound. You can use it and also add some room/ambience afterwards to mesh the guitar with the other instruments of the mix.

I don't like spring. Too boingy, sounds like a gimmick.

Re: What's your favorite reverb type for guitar?

I like just the barest bit of spring added. For the most part, I find the natural reverb of the room suffices. Too much reverb loosens up the stop and chop too much.

Hey,
I like my HOF "Church, and Hall". A little of either goes a long way.
