Amp, without it, I'd be ****.

Hmmm . . . I would think it would obviously be the guitar. You can practice on your guitar without an amp or pedals. You can't do much wih an amp and pedals without a guitar. :laugh2:

Re: What's your most important piece of gear?

well tbh. you NEED a guitar and amp to make noise..

Pedals are not necessary.

so guitar and amp equally.. :D

this is, if we're talking electrics..

if we're talking acoustics as well, i'll take an acoustic ;)

Some of the shoegaze/dream pop/texture players might disagree with that.

Not me (I think my amp is my most important piece of gear), but they might.

my rack mounted digital echoplex pro- hey, i can make noise on anything, but this can loop/manipulate/twist/etc all in real time- the best composition tool ever.

Re: What's your most important piece of gear?

IMHO, my guitar is the most important piece of guitar I have. Call it a Zen thing; but it's the piece that I physically and emotionally hold. It's strapped to me and I am manipulating it not effects or my amp. I think though, that it's really an equation; a formula of all things together.

Re: What's your most important piece of gear?

I am leaning toward the amp just inching out the guitar, pedals are not really neccessary. Here's how I arrived at this:

1. good guitar+bad amp= crap tone
2. bad guitar+good amp= better tone
3. good guitar+good amp= great tone

This is all subjective and very simplified, but it's what I always thought.

Re: What's your most important piece of gear?

It's all very important. If I were to pick one, I'd say the amp. The amp is the final part of the puzzle. It brings it all together and projects it out (well, an amp combo with speakers anyhow).

I've used crappy guitars through my Triamp and it sounds great. With my Grosh, it sounds like heaven is shining through those speakers.

If I had an acoustic guitar, that would be my answer, but for an electric, you NEED a quality amp ;)

I still say Guinness. I know my friends from Ireland would agree, right Steve?

My Bogner. It's irreplaceable, since it was the most favored version of the Ecstasy ever made. It was from the first run of 150 which have a white chassis top and back.
It has all the options. Mixable send/return FX loop, attenuator loop, cabinet assigning,
direct out, Class A/AB, full/half power. There won't ever be an amp like this again.
The few I've seen pop up on Ebay in fair condition sold for $3000+ B.I.N. within a day.
