Well, at what age range? I'd like to see how early most of us started.

I started at 14, after seeing Paul McCartney's Violin Bass on display at the Beatles Cirque Du Soleil.

i was 15. started after...i blew my left index nearly full off and it was all done healing. haha. suppose its better to do it after than before

16. i got an acoustic for either my birthday or christmas when i was 15, but wasn't all too interested in it yet. once i started playing my stepdad's electric and found out about tabs though, i really got into it.

14 I was at a friends house and tryed to play his guitar and got the hang of it

7, but I stopped between 8 and 14 because my teacher made it seem boring. ;)

i had my first electric when i was 8 years old... a junky Goya... i mostly used it for air guitar... ha ha ha... by the time i was 11 i had started to learn a few chords on my dads acoustic...

Around 12. Had a quick bout with a keyboard but my mom saw I wasn't very interested in it. So she bought a used guitar at a garage sale. Was a gamble if I was going to play it (guitar at all) but in the end I stuck with it.

Got my first 3/4 size calssical for my ninth birthday but didn't really start playing until I was 13, when I got my first electric and a friend of mine showed my power chords and how to play heaven and hell by black sabbath :)

I was around 8 or 9 years old. Loved to play, but hated to practice.

11 I think. We had an old nylon string acoustic at home. Not sure why, I don't think anyone other than me ever touched it.
I really got into it when I started listening to AC/DC.

I realize I'm in the vast minority here but I started at 38.....I grew up playing drums and always put it off....

Now that I struggle to find time for the woodshed I really wish I would've started when I had more time...I'm jealous of the majority of you who started as kids...but I'm totally hooked and workin hard!

when I was seven...my uncle had a Gretsch and an old Tele that he let us play once in a while; got a Harmony flattop when I was seven.

I never knew how many strings were on a guitar until I was 18. When I was in my first semester of college, the people on campus who looked the coolest to me were the guys with bad haircuts who didn't go out much but could be found in their dorm rooms making awesome musical noises.

i was about 18, college... then i kinda dropped it for the drums, the drums came a lot easier than the guitar.

so i sort of accepted the guitars challenge...
