When you hear "Seymour Duncan"

Re: When you hear "Seymour Duncan"

For some reason the 59 pops in my head too.I don`t have one in my guitars right now but it is where it all started for me. GREAT pickup and it`ll find it`s way back in one of my guitars when i don`t need hotter ones anymore :)

Re: When you hear "Seymour Duncan"

Real expertise, a few unique products, a few product lines that need expanding (GFS' Retrotrons, for example, are a grand slam for me, and nobody makes anything like them), at a price.

I think SD needs to get out of this PAF rut. Smooth humbuckers to overdriven humbuckers...they make like 30 humbuckers that are basically the same character with minor variations in balance and output. I would like to see some more unique sounds, more punchy tones, more chime, more springy metallic bass ala hendrix (is that even possible in a HB? Who knows.)

But the number one thing is that they strike me as folks who know what they're talking about, which is impressive given the subtleties of guitar pickups.

When I hear "Seymour Duncan" I think: dedication, experience, quality and most importantly Mega Mojo in my Tone ;)

Dear SD,

Need more single coil innovation!

Love,
Strat slingers everywhere

JUst curious, are you kidding or serious?

I mean, they already offer 19 different models (I counted Flat + Staggered as 1 model, so the number of PU models is actually greater) of single coils and single coil sized humbuckers. This is NOT counting the Antiquities, Actives, or any offerings from the custom shop, but only the cheaper, more accessible "production" pickups.

In total, when we add the actives, antiquities and CS models, Duncan produces roughly 30 different winds in a SC formfactor, many of them available with Flat or stagered poles to suit your personal preference.

I know of no other manufacturer who´s product spectrum comes even close to being that broad... ESPECIALLY only their single coils ;)

Re: When you hear "Seymour Duncan"

If i see a guitar with duncans, i think to myself 'Well this person at least knows something about tone and guitars'.

Very Well said.. Infact that what I think, when I see a guitar with Duncans.. That a part I realy like almost every thing abouth the Company. Tommorow if I have to choose a pickup for aother guitar. I wil first look for it in the Duncan line.
I was just thinking to my self today, just before loggin in what s a pleasure and a privlege it is to post out here, and when I log in I see this thread. The folks are very friendly and warm....
It is a pleasure indeed..
AS JOLLY SAID:----Pickups and one of the nicest, coolest, most down to earth people I've ever met in my entire life.
