Where does it all go?

Looking around this forum, nearly everyone has a gear list or a link to a gear list in their sig. What you dont see, is low end guitars in there... everyone had to start somewhere, with a basic amp and guitar, so is it that you just dont put them? Or are they all sold?

Also, what guitar did everyone here learn on?

Re: Where does it all go?

I've been playing for 30 years. I've been through a lot of gear and a lot's been sold including some old Fenders, Gibsons and Marshalls I wish I'd kept. :yell:

But in my late teens / early twenties I didn't have any money and used to sell a piece of gear to buy a new piece. :smack:

What guitar did I learn on? I'm still learning now, but my first guitar was an early 70s Impact Tele style thing. My brother still has it, though it's been heavily modded by both of us over the years. First pic is how it is now, second pic is how it was back in '74. :)

Nice Keef avatar BTW. :approve:

I learned on a Starfize acoustic (nylon strung) of some sort.

And I also sell gear to get new stuff yeah, syill have my first guitar altho I don't use it at all

Re: Where does it all go?

Mine was a yamaha double fat strat and a gorilla amp from a pawn shop. Still have the double fat strat. I refinished it, upgraded the electronics and it's still one of my favorite guitars.

Re: Where does it all go?

Well my first was a strat pack, i am 13 and just started when i was 9, i had that guitar for a year, sold it and bought the onei have currently, its actually a very nice guitar but wsa priced low, its a very nice piece of basswood for the body with a quilted maple top, with 2 SD humbuckers, Invader bridge and JB neck. ITs very nice and i love it!

Re: Where does it all go?

I'm kinda dumb around computers, so I just post pics/links to my prettier stuff.

:newangel:

I'm kinda lazy too, so that only makes things worse. :burnout:

Heh-heh . . . maybe, those of us with the "low-end" stuff, don't list it in our sigs. :laugh2:

LOL! Too true, Artie!

I learned to play on an early 80's Fender Strat (Black, white pickguard, maple neck and fingerboard). Traded it in for a Charvel Model 2. Kept the Model 2 until the headstock cracked in half opening up for Symphony X at Lamour in NYC in the year 2001 ...

+1

However, most of my "beginner" gear either broke down or was dismantled over the years.

My first guitar was an early 70's Fender, Mustang. That was in 1978, and I traded it for a Gibson, The Paul in 1979.

Re: Where does it all go?

I'm like Simon. I was always a brokeass, so I had to sell something to buy something.
I just did it over and over, always adding money, which is how I ended up with toys that usually only a Doctor can write a check for. It snowballed into a serious addiction, which I'm now learning to keep under control, mainly cause I'm still not a Doctor. Anyway, my first guitar was a $50 Harmony that looked like a strat with Gretch pickups. The guitar I'd say I "learned on" was a red Carvin DC 400 stereo with gold Kahler and two double cream Carvin pups. I really wish I knew where that guitar ended up....probably in some kid's closet, like all of our old guitars. I traded it for a Black Japanese 57 Reissue strat......man, I can't believe I remember that. I've had over 100 guitars since then.

Re: Where does it all go?

My first Yamaha Pacifica Strat copy is sitting in the back of my closet in desperate need of a set-up, the cable that came with it gave out from overuse, and I think I blew the speaker of the little included 15-watter.
My second guitar was a red/white striped Hondo Explorer looking thing, which was broken, so I traded it for an Epiphone SG Special which I sold to my cousin to purchase a Yamaha Mike Stern Telecaster. Just recently, I traded my Epiphone Korina Explorer for a Yamaha AES something or another.
Pedals I don't get rid of...they just sit in a box and collect dust...I may need them one day...for something...

I buy low-end gear and trade it for low-end gear. Recently, I've been really attracted to old beat-up low end gear...

anyway, here's my gear link:

Re: Where does it all go?

76 takamine acoustic. Passed down from my dad. It's in my sig. Will be forever, because if I sold it my dad would kill me.
