Where no shadows fall...

Re: Where no shadows fall...

Excellant, Rid!! Top notch playing as always. So that's a Custom Custom in your guitar? I still can't figure out what went wrong when I put a CC in my Strat. All I got was barking mids. Sounded like it was going to rip my speaker in two. At first I thought I just had the pickup to close to the strings but there was no big differance when I lowered it. I even checked the diagram to be sure I had it all properly connected and it was. Well, maybe I'll try it again this weekend. Again, great job there Rid.

Re: Where no shadows fall...

Yes, I liked this a lot as I've already said before? Is it the same "misterious" amp as before?

Re: Where no shadows fall...

Thanks guys, most kind.
Ah the CC....well I use mine in mostly big old British amps, Hiwatts and such, it is a very midheavy pickup...but it has the mids right where I like them, smooth top and spongy bass...yep I am oldfashioned that way;)
Don't like too tight sounds.
I use it with a seriel/split/parrallel switch that came with the Kramer back then, most useful for different sounds.
Anyways the amp is a small box, about the size of a MXR compressor or phaser...hehe
it has two volumes, a master and a volume, a guitar input and output, a mini jack headphone out as well, plus two phono plugs for a cd player.
I simply stuck directly into the console, it is a small ampsimulator all analouge, it sounds absolutly amazing...overtones, fatness, juicy, warm, not compressed or smallsounding in any way, way more sound than in any POD or Tonelab or what ever that is out there....
It has no effects, just a good basic sound, and I simply used my PlexiTone and delay as effects...
He will make an updated version soon with two modes, openback cab or closed back.
I was going to get a Vox Tonelab for homerecording or for quick ones....now I'll just get one of these instead...for way less money than any of the others costs.

Sounds great! When and where will they be available?

Re: Where no shadows fall...

Ah well don't know yet, he has made a few of them to friends and others, I am borrowing his personal one right now.
But I will ask him if you like??
We will probally end up making those later on I guess, but there is no harm in getting one from him personally I guess.
I'll try to contact him and get a mailaddy for you if you like.

Re: Where no shadows fall...

Hehe....that is quite ugly I promise you;)
Only good for clean sounds, only meant to be that.
But I am sure he could make it into a screaming monster if he wanted, he is a monster tech!
He had to let a job at Marshall pass by....tragic!

Re: Where no shadows fall...

I have to admit I'm interested in this thing as well...

So if i understand it right this thing is like a little DI-Preamp? Are you getting the distortion sound from a pedal or is that coming out of the little box itself?

It is a small amp, not just preamp.
You can use it with a pair of headphones as well, loop in your cd-player/mp-3 and practise away, just use some stompboxes for od and such.
