Where the (*@(@( can I get push-pulls for Tele?

Something Cool
Anybody has a source for push-pull pots with the non-split shafts for Teles?

Alternatively, Tele knobs for split shaft?

I hate these little details, strong language helps :)

I don't get why you can't put a tele dome knob with a set screw on a split shaft pot. That's exactly how my tele is set up.

Go through the Allparts catalog... everything you need is in there.

The widest selection I know of is www.guitarelectronics.com, but I don't see one there. I see a 250k/500k, and you could put a resistor across the 2 outer lugs on the 500k side to make it 250k.

Or, Just go to a hardware store like ACE with one of the pots you do have, go back by all the screws etc, there's brass tubing they have, get one where the split shaft of the pot just fits in, or bring a knob and get the tubing that fits on the shaft and in the knob.

I know that's not what you want but it works. (http://www.guitarelectronics.com/product/CPBSH/Guitar_Bass_Control_Pot_Adapter_Bushings_2.html)

You MAY have to drill the hole in the knob one drill bit larger than what the hole is to get the right size brass tubing. All depends on the knob manufacturer.

Let us know what you decide to do!

+1, there is no reason you can't put a knob with a set screw on a split shaft pot. Line the screw up with the gap in the shaft.

Yeah, I actually find set screw knobs better with split shaft knurled pots than solid shaft ones. There's more grip for the set screw.

All the knobs on that page I linked to use set screws even though they're for split shaft pots. From what I've seen everywhere I've looked that seems to be the norm, and trust me, I've looked around a lot, so much so that I've decided if I ever do want to change the knobs I'm just going to change the pots to split shaft.

Oh. I didn't actually try this. I guess I'll just jerk the knobs on and go from there.

Use caution when using push-on knobs (which standard tele knobs should not be) with push/pulls. If you ever need to get the knob off you run the risk of pulling the shaft out of the pot. I only use push-on on one push/pull, just to keep the look of a stock strat.

FWIW, the two DIY pedal kits I recently built used knobs w/ set screws on split-shaft pots. Works just fine, as someone has already mentioned just line the set screw up so it fits into the gap in the pot shaft.
