Where to place MXR Carbon Copy.

I just picked up an MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay and I'm wondering if I should hook it up to the front of the amp or through my effects loop. I used to run a Boss DD-3 through the effects loop but I have heard that Analog delays should be run through the front of the amp. Or does it even really matter? What do you guys think? Any feedback would be appreciated.:bigthumb:

Re: Where to place MXR Carbon Copy.

a) where ever it sounds best to you
b) in the loop
c) In the amp room....

Re: Where to place MXR Carbon Copy.

What Sporky said. With distortion coming from the amp, you really want it in the loop. If your dirt comes from pedals, put it in front of all of them.
Still, you should have the last word in this! Not us. So go try it everywhere and see how it works eh?

In fact, my amp doesn't have a loop and I'm suffering a bit with the drop of volume in the repeats of my Memory Toy when the amp is clean.

Re: Where to place MXR Carbon Copy.

I remember using my boss delay in the loop privided an awesome delay effect, while using it in front was just... ok.

Re: Where to place MXR Carbon Copy.

If you put the MXR in your amp loop, you may notice some tone sucking, it's a true bypass pedal. If you like it more in the loop, I would recommend using very short cables and keeping it on top of the amp, or beside it. A Boss pedal has a buffer in it, using it in the loop with long cables will change the tone a bit, but not cause much volume or treble loss. This is what I hear, and why I think that is...ymmv...

Mine is in my series loop. I have seen others place it in front of the amp with good results also.

Re: Where to place MXR Carbon Copy.

I'd place this whole thread in the Amplifier Central subforum. :D

+1 where ever it souds best to you.

nothing sounds good thru the loop on my amp. all effects end up in front of the amp and I think they sound just fine.
