Where’s your trem cavity cover?

If your guitar has a Floyd or a more traditional Strat trem, it probably came with a rectangular plastic cover to protect the springs and various what-not. Do you know where the cover is?

I knew I wasn’t very good about this, but the other day it occurred to me that I have seven such guitars sitting out, and the only one that has the cover in place is a Squier with holes that give you access to the tension screws. The rest of the covers are... somewhere...? I’ve seen a couple of them around, and I think there’s a whole jackpot on a shelf in the closet. Screws? Yeah, right.

So fork ‘em over. Where are they? Whadya do with ‘em?

They're all attached. I don't really have any difficulty from them. The metal cover on my G&L is slotted for tension adjustment.

Then again I built one guitar from scratch and never bothered to drill for a cover.

longcat's Strat has never had a cover AFAIK. We built her partscaster in early 2012 and I don't think I ever bought a cover. The cover for my Charvel Model 1A is in the case, while the cover for my Model 2 is in my spare parts bin.

I know for a fact my Ibanez Destroyer has it's cover firmly in the proper place. My Ibanez Rg something number may have it's cover in the case... maybe. It is also possible the Destroyer ate it.
Most of my guitars are t.o.m, less chance of losing parts.

Mine are in the same place I keep the bridge covers for my Strats.

My Strat’s cover was missing when I got it. Fitting, as I would’ve immediately removed it. There are a bunch of them in my parts box, though.

I have 3 guitars with trem covers (soon to be 4) and they all have the covers installed. The two Strats both have covers with the holes for the strings so they almost never need to be removed.

I’m about 50:50. Some are on and some are off. One didn’t even come drilled for one. ;)

My salmon strat (faded Fiesta Red) was partly inspired by Jimi, so I keep mine off as a nod to him. I want to say its in the case.

Re: Where’s your trem cavity cover?

On my fender strat it's on the back of the guitar,
on the squier bullet it's in a parts box in my closet.

String changes on the fender seem to go fine with the plate on.
On the bullet sometimes the holes don't line up it's just quicker with the plate off. But it's a $100 basswood guitar and the screws will strip if you test them so if you take it off may as well leave it.

Mine are all in the backs of the guitars.

All are in place, as are all of my bridge covers from my reissue Strats.

650XL is on the guitar, RG550 is in my sock drawer

Don't play in the nude with no back cover, could be painful :)

Then again one could do the Michael Anthony's high parts from early VH.

All my trem covers are on my guitars.

Probably in a pile somewhere with are all the rest of useless parts from my guitars.

I used to to screw them on and off vigorously at some point. Finally I just got enough and left em off...

All of my cavity covers are on their bodies. But I don't have any Telecasters with ash trays.
