Which amps have a 15 inch speaker?

Re: Which amps have a 15 inch speaker?

If we are talking pure guitar combo amps, there won't be to much around I guess, most of them are named by Vasshu, I guess you won't find too many around.
Ampeg is a name that is (to me) related with 15 inch speaker in the guitar world, but those are all designed for bass.
I also remember that the Randall Warhead (Dimebag Signature) had a pair of 15 inchers in the full stack version, but that would be a cabinet as well there and not count I guess.

I'd be open to stacks.

A few univox's did, and a few silvertones (can't remember the name of each), and then some fenders like the dual showman, some bassmans, some tweed bandmasters, etc. Ampeg b15 and some of the gemini's had 15's. There's also some newer "custom RI's" fender has done like the 65 twin custom 15 and then the cesar diaz vibroverb which has a 15". You can also get a super reverb clone from a few places (sligo is the first that comes to mind) with a 15".

Or you can just take any 410 amp, cut a new baffle, and make it a 115

I've been approached recently with making a Vibroverb blackface. Does Fender still sell that reissue with the tube/SS rectifier switch?

Re: Which amps have a 15 inch speaker?

The Peavey Studio 400, I believe came with a 15" speaker. Steel players used them a lot, I think primarily because of the headroom. The Fender 75 also had a model with a 15.

There are some boogie mark amps out there with 15" speakers. I think it was an option, so who knows how many are out there.

Re: Which amps have a 15 inch speaker?

This is sort of a succession to the Delta blues thread. I would like to check out more amps with 15 inch speakers...

The Fender Vibro-verb has a 15" JBL D-130, Jensen C15N, or CTS respectively. you have to be careful of the Vibro-verb RI. those came with 2 10" The blackface came with the above mentioned speakers. I believe they are 40W and the sound huge. I've often toyed with the idea of putting a 15" in my Deluxe Reverb. Never did it though.

The Fender Vibrosonic is another. Pretty sure it was 100 or 135W with 1 15" The Silverface had reverb. I don't believe the earlier models did. They made a Custom of this amp some time around 94 or 95. They added the vibrato & reverb in both channels and used a 12ax7 in the P1 spot. It was really designed as a Pedal steel amp. the older ones were awesome. SRV used these towards the end of his career.

Another great Fender is the Dual Showman. These are heads and are very reasonable. They are essentially a Twin in a head configuration. The bottoms most noteably used were 2 15" speakers (I believe the D 130 15").

85W and just a killer amp. Very loud and very clean.

I actually have a JBL D130F I had reconed by Weber a couple of years ago. I'll never sell it.
