Which is best out of the mass produced delay's around $150??

Basically used for ambiance and in place of reverb in a sense.

Boss DD-3:
See this used by pro's all the time.

MXR Carbon-Copy:
Many people seem to like this pedal, simple controls.

Hardwire:

Vox Time Machine:
Plenty-o-features but read some comments that the guts are kind of cheap.

Better options for the same price?

Re: Which delay pedal?

Don't go HARDWIRE.

I couldn't gel with it.

I have the MXR Carbon Copy and that's the one pedal that has always and will always be on my board. I rarely solo, yet still have a lot of use for the delay for ambiance, subtle nuances, and making notes ring out with lush.

The DD-3 is also recommended.

Get both?

Nah, one or the other. I've been dumping too much money in my other hobby.

Thanks for the input.

Try the EHX Memory Toy too.

Can't say it's better or worse than any of the others as I haven't tested them properly,
but it's on your price bracket and I love mine.
The stock modulation circuit is badly adjusted, but one screwdriver and 2 minutes of your time and it's great. :)

Then CC for sure. (unless you already have another analog delay) even then, the CC's tooo good to pass up.

It's all on your budget though, could probably find dd-3 cheaper used.

Re: Which delay pedal?

You should be able to get a used TC Nova Repeater for about $150. That thing is killer.

Re: Which delay pedal?

I hate to further expand the field, but the best delay I've ever played (and still own) is the Line 6 Echo Park.

Had a big doublewide BOSS DD-20 GigaDelay, and the Line 6 sounds better.

Re: Which delay pedal?

I had a DD20, and it was nice, but I sold it in favor of the Carbon Copy. The sound from the Carbon Copy is amazing, and I concur about it being the only pedal that will never leave my board.

Re: Which delay pedal?

Or you can always hire a dozen other guitar players to naturally produce a delay for you??????????

Looks cool actually, I mean feature wise, that is one butt ugly pedal.

Re: Which delay pedal?

I have real problems choosing a delay pedal, I tend to prefer analog goodness for cleaner tones but I like digital with gain.....do I need two???

Re: Which delay pedal?

Carbon Copy or Aqua Puss for analog warmth and simplicity; Flashback for digital bells and whistles.

Re: Which delay pedal?

The DD-20 and the Carbon Copy are both great pedals! I have both on my board. I had a Line6 Echo Park for a while and I couldn't stand it. If you need to turn the delay level up to even half way (12 o' clock), it actually cuts out the original note you play and it only plays the delay. So you just hear ONLY the repeats. If you used the level down low it would work ok, but I need louder repeats for a lot of the music that I play. I hated that pedal....

Re: Which delay pedal?

Jimmy thinks Jimmy will spend Jimmy's money on the Carbon Copy at Jimmy's local music store by Jimmy's house.
