Which is most like a Dimarzio Evo?

Hey Guys. Long time no post. I've been getting more into my Hamer Studio guitar (damn, I love this guitar). And, I've got a second one on the way. In my first one, I put an Evolution in the bridge as suggested by the other guitarist in my band. I love that pickup but wonder which Duncan pickup would be similar. I like the aggressive high top end on the Evolution, and how it cuts through on solos. I wish it looked like the stock pickup but it's a slightly strange looking pickup.

None.....but duncan distortion.

I personally think the JB is the closest due to the upper mids that both it and the Evolution contain, but no Duncan I have ever heard has the same *feel* as the Evolution...the Evolution is extremely tight.

I think it's one unto it's own.

--Sure, I'm leaning that way if I get a replacement for the stock '59. Just wanted to try to learn more about the SD line. That Evo is a monster pickup. :burnout:

Hands down, The Evoloution is like no pickup I have ever played!!!! It is about as original sounding as it could get.

It's almost like a Duncan Custom, but with different pole pieces, and dual resonance.

It strikes me as if he asked for was an overwound PAF Pro with a Ceramic magnet, and different pole pieces.

It measures at a little under 14k, which puts in league with the Custom, although it's even tighter with those goofy pole pieces.

I have one in my old hardtail Charvel, and it's NIGHT & DAY different than it sounded in an Ibanez (floating whammy) I used to own. In fact, I no longer find it "rude" or "annoying" at all.....it's just very tight & aggressive.
