Why do you want a marshall if you are just going to use distortion pedals for distortion? Aren't they known for not having the best clean channel. You could get a carvin do that.

By the way, I use pedals for distortion too, I am not dissing you.

I'd go with the JCM800. Very cool amp. FWIW, I just tried a Vintage Modern and was not impressed at all. There was nothing "vintage" sounding about it IMHO.
