It's best to ask Jeff Seal directly, as he will tailor it to your needs. Suffice it to say that Jeff is competitive with guys like Trace at Voodoo, and Trace publishes his prices. $400 bucks or so will get you almost everything you want out of a mod.

Bogner Shiva head
Jubilee or Slash
Marshall DSL
VHT 50CL
Hughes & Kettner Triamp or Duotone head.
Soldano HR 50 Plus
Mesa Stilleto
Rivera
Top Hat Emplexador

Also, that new company Krank. I checked those out at my buddy's place.
Surprisingly good. 4 6L6's, a great clean channel, and the heavy channel has a unique sweep knob that'll allow you to dial in everything from G. Lynch to Pantera. I'd buy one of these before I'd ever touch a Peavey or even a Rectifier.

Peavey JSX.

There's a link in here somewhere with Satch giving a demo. Though they are pretty new so maybe wait awhile?

What about the Koch multi something head??
120 or 100 watts version.
Lots of gain in that thing.

Yeah, those Kock Multitones look like they'd sound great. I read somewhere that it's the amp Paul Reed Smith uses.

DeadSkinSlayer3- I notice you have listed a Peavey XXX in your signature. Can you tell me about it? Anything I should know before I run out and buy one? I often hear it described as a working man's Mesa- does it live up to that description?

I also want to check out the new Peavey JSX too. Sounds like the Ultra channel was lifted/borrowed from the XXX. The JSX has the added avantage of having front mounted controls as well as a front panel master noise gate. This may be a necessary feature in an amp that generates so much gain.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, DSS3!

Check out an ENGL Powerball...yum

Definitely, or a Savage 120 or a Richie Blackmore head...all ENGL.

Check out all ENGL stuff for high gain before you commit to something else, it all sounds pretty damn good!

I love mine. Clean channel is clean, does what it's supposed to do. Nothing special, but not ****. The crunch and ultra channels are almost identical, the ultra having more gain, more compressed sound, and a bit tighter. I use crunch for leads. Plenty of gain on either channel, I have both at 5. The amp can do everything from Slayer crunch to Killswitch Engage chunk, and everything inbetween as long as it's metal. It does high gain and higher gain, but what else do you need?

Re: Which New Hi Gain Amp Should I Buy? Vote Now!

Mike Soldano makes some great amps. That's what I think I'd go with.

Without a doubt- BUT as of late, it's a little too sweet for my needs. I'm a gain-aholic, I can't seem to ever get enough of it! The Soldano offers more of a vintage 70's-ish ratty overdriven crunch. I'm looking for an amp that starts with 80's hair metal and goes to Modern Nu-Metal hi-gain tones. I hate to say this, but that's just not possible with a Soldano (without the use of a stomp box). I'll definitely check out the new Peavey JSX when I'm at GC later this week.

Thanks for the help, and I'll keep ya' posted!

Re: Which New Hi Gain Amp Should I Buy? Vote Now!

I just put clips of my ENGL Savage120 up in this forum and the tips and clips section...which sortof gives you an idea of the cleans and gains its capable of...but bear in mind it wasnt micd very well or probably with the right kind of mic even...but it will give you an idea.

And the Savage 120 is one of ENGLs older big amp heads now and is getting cheaper if you can find them. They're great heads...check out the clips if you like.

Re: Which New Hi Gain Amp Should I Buy? Vote Now!

All I can say is... I play very hard rock and some speed/death metal and I'd kill for a single recto or Rivera Knucklehead k-55. You can find either on ebay for 600-1000 dollars. Good luck!

Re: Which New Hi Gain Amp Should I Buy? Vote Now!

First of all. See what you can afford. If you are looking
at Bogners, VHT's, Etc. played them first & really check
them out. Then save like a Mad man.

But if you are thinking about regular production amps.
again play them all. what ever sound best & feel right
to you. You are the one who will makes the final desision.

Why do you have to ask to take a vote on which amp
you should buy? Read the reviews on Harmony Central.

trust your own ears. just take your time because your'e
the one shelling out the dough.

This thread has gotten way out of hand and every body is
suggesting amps that's not on your vote list.

Again , What tone are you looking for? then play every
amp untill you find your sound.

Re: Which New Hi Gain Amp Should I Buy? Vote Now!

If your a Lynch fan check out the Splawn Quick Rod. It does Back To The Attack era tones perfect and has plenty of rich gain for ya. I just bought one and can't shut up about them. And the price is alot more friendly than Boogie or Soldano.
