Which of these pickguards for orange relic Strat?

Pickup covers & knobs for this one are parchment. I have a pickguards in plain white too, but these are the three I'd like to choose between:

worn 70s style black


White Southwesten style from Decoboom


Mint green with redhead pinup girl


Please let me know what you think, thanks. I'm leaning towards black at this point, but the mint green looks great too.

Love the Decoboom but I think perhaps it deserves a nicer guitar; I have a blue build on the horizon that it'd be perfect for.

Tried to post a poll for this but even though I clicked the box for it nothing showed up when I previewed the thread, nor any instructions- there must be an extra step that I'm missing...


PS: I wish I knew why every time I post cellphone pics here, most of them (but not all) get turned sideways or upside down. Is it the uploader? Is it the vbulletin software? Is it the local storage? Same thing happened when I tried to upload some guitar pics to an album. I can't figure it out and it irks me a bit. Does anybody know why this happens?

I don't know. I think just a plain 3ply white would work.

What kind of neck? All maple? My vote goes for black.

I had a trans orange ash strat. I went 3 ply black with parchment covers. Looked great. I'll see if I can dig up old pics.

Orange guitar with rosewood or maple neck? I'd go with a tortoise guard and parchment/cream plastics. The tortoise would look good with an ebony, but then I'd go with black plastics.

It's such a personal decision, it's hard to advise.

If the pickguard would have been mint green or at least aged white, I would certainly vote for the Southwestern Decoboom, but as it is white, my vote goes to the Mintgreen with Pinup pickguard. The Southwestern pattern is really really cool, but it should have been on a mint green pickguard to get my vote, not on a white one.

I agree the Decoboom is a bit too bright and new-looking for a relic guitar. I just liked it so much I couldn't resist buying it, and absolutely will put it to good use, probably it on the blue build.

AFAIK none of the Decoboom products are available aged or in mint green. Maybe someday they will be- Decoboom makes some really cool looking stuff, including a neckplate that I wanted but couldn't really justify buying right now. I'd love to get one of their Tele pickguards.

Black. But I'd prob spurge for a Parchment if it were mine. Awesome looking guitar man! The black guard has the more appropriate aged look and fits in better overall.

Am considering another option- I like the Decoboom so much that I checked again and there's a version of the same pattern in black/white or black/cream:

Yea I like that better, but I think this body screams for an aged pickguard. I think those modern designs are confusing the overall picture if you get what I'm saying. I just love that body, and personally I'd want to capitalize on it's aged and relic'd look by using parts that accentuate it, rather than take away and distract from it.

Another idea, perhaps you can take some 1500 grit to that to knock the sheen off and add some swirl marks to make it blend in better.
