Which of these would you recommend?

Hi,i am building a saga LC-10 Les Paul type guitar and i wanted to know which of these pickups you would recommend for the neck position. It will be used for metal/hard rock tones so keep that in mind please. What i am looking for is plenty of chugga chugga(for lack of a better term) but i want to still be able to hear some mids and highs.

The guitar is made of basswood and has a rosewood fretboard.

Welcome... are you by chance a God Forbid fan?

From your list, I'd recommend the Distortion or JB. While not on your list, give some serious thought to the Dimebucker. It's awesome for what you want.

Nope,not a God Forbid fan. I am more into the Black Sabbath type of metal and psychedelica. Why?

Seriously, though, get ahold of one of those three pickups, and I bet you end up happy. You know about the exchange program, right?

No,actually i didnt know about the exchange program. Is there like a restock fee or anything else i should know?

Also i have never been a real fan of Dimebags tone. Are the pickups able to do more than just emulate his tone?

I think you pay shipping to send the pickup back, and any difference in price, if applicable. I don't know of any restock fee.

The Dimebucker is super versatile. It's the most articulate passive pickup for high gain there is. Plenty of chunk, and it's got this twang, that almost sounds like a Telecaster playing along with you (at a much lower level, of course )

I agree with JBfHell on this one. the Distortion-Neck is exactly what you need/want out of a pickup. dont let the name fool you, the distortion has great cleans.

Is this direct with Seymour Duncan or with a Seymour Duncan retailer?

Then go for a Duncan 59 for your neck pickup. Tommy Iommi used a stock Gibson SG with alnico 5 humbuckers similar to the Duncan 59's. The pickups in his guitar probably both measured about 8.1 or 8.2KK. Seymour underwinds the 59N to under 8K for a clearer tone and to balance better with a 59B which he winds to the stock value of around 8.1K to 8.2K. That's to hot for me to use as a neck pickup...but if you wanted to you could put a 59B in the neck position of your guitar and have just about the same output neck pickup that Tommy Iommi used. Lew

If I look at those poll results, I am a bit surprised. Those who voted for the "screamin' demon" can't be serious. That's actually the worst SD pickup I have ever heard. It was originally in my ESP "Skulls and snakes" and I took it out and replaced it with a JB. The guitar has an alder body and with the demon it sounded like **** : no bass, all treble, high mids. With the JB the guitar has come alive. Afterwards I tried the demon in a few other guitars and it sounded bad in each one of them. I have read some reviews at Harmony Central and I'm not alone in my thinking. My Question : Is George Lynch deaf?

Hmm, that's a good example, how a wrong name can let a pickup be misunderstood.
I'm actually sell a SH-12, and i already have a bid of 53€, and it's still not over.
That shows me that this pickup can't be so unpopular. I think there are a lot which don't like it, but some who like it a lot!
In my description i wrote this:

Sell a Seymour Duncan Sh-12 Screamin Demon, this Pickup is for George lynch (dock) more modified ' 59 Humbucker. Somewhat more output has and more heights; a modern, knackiger PAF. when turning back the volume potentiometer becomes the sound more perkussiver.

Sounds also translated weird by google, but "modern paf" might be the right description.
By the way, i liked it, it's just a bit too bright.
It might be a good neck humbucker, if you'd like to have the 59n a bit brighter and louder.

The bridge pickup i am planning on using is a Duncan Performer Detonator(Invader). Would it match well with the 59? This guitar is going to be set up for metal tones only( my main guitar,a Epi Les Paul Standard is used for everything else) as my main guitar doesnt do the super heavy stuff that well(i cant set it up for heavy metal tones while keeping the other tones i need). So the higher the output and bass response,although not enough to get too muddy,the better.

I would not recomend any of those for the neck spot????

I'd say Full Shred because it doesn't sound muddy when you throw a LOT of gain on it.
