Re: which one you prefer SG or LP?

i love my sg and can get some fairly warm sounds out of it. play around with some different pickups and see if you can warm it up

Re: which one you prefer SG or LP?

My SG's are far and away brighter than my LP Custom. There's a lot more wood in the Custom.

Actually you can get the DC as solid or chambered depending on the model.

Your other comment is why I think I'll like the Dean Hardtail. Look at the design...like a cross between a double cut and single cut design. Plus, great upper fret acces according to many.

SGs can sound a little one dimensional to me. I think I'd still want one someday and a Dean Hardtail, PRS McCarty...etc...etc...!!!!!!

Dean has some of the best customer service in the industry.

Thanks again for your comment. I called Gibson and asked them about the yes it is chamebered. Actually the classic is chamebered the same for the single cut LP classic. The Standard has the solid body which is a AAA wood. On the other hand they don't make the standard DC left handed.

I had a Dean not a hardtail though, and have a bad experience with their customer service. My guitar had some cosmetics and electrical problems out of the box, it took more than a month to get it replaced. They hesitated about replacing the guitar.

Definitely more wood. That would be my second choice though. A nice LP Custom.

I am surprised. I had an issue with a Euro guitar I had purchased and asked me to send it back right away. They sent it to me and through in an extra pickup because I questioned the pole piece spacing! They called me all the time to check up and see if it was okay.

I guess each situation is different. There is always the good and the bad in everything. Just that time I got the bad part. Not saying they are always bad, but because of that particular incident it drove me away from Dean. I see their web page from time to time to see what's new. But can't commit again.

Re: which one you prefer SG or LP?

I'd go for the Les Paul DC

IMO it looks a lot better.

But then, I've never liked the shape of the SG at all, so no contest for me.

Re: which one you prefer SG or LP?

i dont know anything about the tones of either but i chose sg because i absolutely love the body shape. i was planning on getting a eb-3 sometime when i have extra cash.
