Hi everyone...I want to get a warm OD pedal,a compressor and a distortion pedal for my Fender Twin Reverb...I live in Istanbul and my choices are kinda limited to Boss, ibanez, jim dunlop...there are some more choices but I don't want crap dods or alikes...so I need suggestions from you...first of all lets get to Overdrive pedals : Boss OD 3,Ibanez TS-5,TS-7,TS-9,TS808???
Compressor pedals : Boss CS-1 Compressor Sustainer,Jim Dunlop MX series
Distortion pedals : Boss DS-1 (actually I know this is a great pedal so no other choices for it...)
Well if you can compare these pedals which one would you choose especially is TS series???any advice should be appreciated thanks in advance...

Re: which pedal to get...any suggestions...?

I'd get the TS 808 and DS 1.....and a Fulltone '69 (Fuzzface) and Fulltone Clyde wah wah.

But I'd start with the TS 808 and DS 1.

I recently bought the reissue TS 808 and it's really a great sounding pedal right out of the box...The boss ds1 to me anyway, sounds better with some tweaks to get rid of some of it's buzzy, solid state sounding tone and it needs some lowend balls...I'm speaking only about the recent Taiwan DS1s with the inline opamp...I'm not seeing alot of the Japan made DS1s but the recent versions are night and day after some mods...

I'm a dedicated Fulltone user, but they might be anywhere from difficult to impossible to try out in Istanbul. I like using the Full-Drive 2 for overdrive.

You can't go wrong with the TS808; it's a classic.

If you want a variety of pedals, and don't have a lot of money, I think you should seriously look into the Boss GT-6 or the amazing Boss OD-20.

Re: which pedal to get...any suggestions...?

Visual Sounds Route 66. It's a TS-808 and Dynacomp in one unit.

Re: which pedal to get...any suggestions...?

thanks guys...I don't know if TS808 would be available here but I'm sure TS-9 would come at the end of april...how is TS-9 compared to TS808?...does it just suck or could it compare with TS808 some tone tweaking...I'm also hopeless about finding a japan made DS-1 here so should I get it or just leave it and try something else?and what about the compressor pedals?thanks again...

Re: which pedal to get...any suggestions...?

The compressor that I keep seeing in almost every gearhead's rig is the Keeley Compressor, kinda pricey though. I never needed a compressor myself, but I've heard only good things about it. It's a true bypass too.

As for the DS-1, there are several people who mod it to make MUCH more usable, our own STRATDELUXER97 being one of them.

Re: which pedal to get...any suggestions...?

The Keely Ultra is the only modded DS-1 I've played so it's the only one I know anything about, but it's a cool pedal. He does TS-9 mods too. The Aphex peanut Butter is reputed to be a very warm overdrive. I've only heard the clips, but they sound good, especially the one with the Tele. I'd give the Barber Tone Press a hard look before I bought any other compressor. I used a plain old Dyna Comp for many years though, worked for me.

Re: which pedal to get...any suggestions...?

Overdrive Pedals: TS808, Maxon OD9, Maxon 820
Compressors: Maxon CP101, MXR Dyna Compressor (Old style/Script logo)
Distortion Pedals: Boss DS1 or Big Muff

That's what I was going to suggest. Plus, the OD side of the pedal has a nice bass boost switch that can really fill out the sound. Works great!

Re: which pedal to get...any suggestions...?

The stock TS 808 is MUCH better than the stock TS9 !!!!! If you want a TS 808, get a TS 808. NOTHING else is a TS 808. They all try to clone it, but I'd much rather have the original article. You obviously have internet access, so...go online at either ebay.com or gtrheaven.com, and order a TS 808 !!! Just my 2 cents worth. :)
