which pickups for 7-string (mahogony)?

Hi forum,

I'm looking to replace pickups on my Schecter A-7 Avenger 7-string guitar (made of mahogony). I would like them to be passive. Normally, I would just go with a set of Custom bridge, 59 neck, but I don't know how these will work out with the low B string (will it be muddy, inarticulate).

Anyone have experience with Custom/59 in a seven string, or could point me to some clips?

Also, what other pickups would folks recommend for a seven string (again, no actives).

Thanks!
Jim

I've listened to the DD 7 string pickups be4 and they sound awesome!! especially dowtuned. They have alot of mids and treble so muddiness will not be a problem, and they are really good for rhythm chunk, but the custom might be better for chugging stuff.

The Distortion/Jazz combo is pretty awesome! You'll get a heavy and aggressive tone with great note definition and articulation. It's absolutely sick for heavy riffing. The Distortion will give you screaming leads and the Jazz will be smoother but yet very articulate sounding. If you combine them in the middle position you'll get a very interesting and beautiful lead tone that kinda reminds me of Mastodon.

I prefer the DDn to the jazz....it sounds better with high gain, but i have to keep the pup height WAYYY down, or else it will get muddy
