which pickups for a custom conifer tele?

I'm going to try and build a couple of guitars over the summer and for my first try I thought I'd use a bit of old leylandi conifer I've got. It's going to be tele styled so what sort of pickups do you think would suit it? It's a soft wood, and has a really low density so I have no idea what it's going to sound like.

Ok forget the type of wood if you like, I just want a couple of all round pickups really, mostly blues/rock type stuff. I want a really nice clean tone but I want to be able to drive my amp a bit.

Bump. What about antiquities? The closest commonly used wood is probably basswood as that seems to have a fairly low density as hardwoods go.
