I was checking out the Gibson Reissue 1958 Les Paul Standard with CTS pots, bumblebee caps, lightweight aluminum tail and BurstBucker 1 & 2 pickups and I was wondering which Duncans sound most like the Gibson BurstBuckers.
Since I can't afford the Gibby and my Epiphone Elite Les Paul has a real '58 faded plaintop look to it I have been dressing it up a little bit here and there. I added the bell knobs with the pointer washers and changed the chrome Grovers to nickel to match the nickel ABR-1 bridge and tail. I can't believe how much better the nickel Grovers look on this guitar. I also added a SH1 '59 neck pickup and a SH5 custom bridge. I put in a pair of orange drop caps too.
The pots seem to be good quality I'm not sure what brand but these Epi Elites are great guitars IMO.
