Which scale length do you guys prefer/think is best?

I'm curious as to which scale length most of you guys prefer.

I voted, but your poll is grossly incomplete. You forgot the following:

25" (PRS scale)
24 1/2" (PRS Santana scale)
24" (Fender Jaguar scale)
27" (Soloway scale)

Actually I like the 25" scale used by Carvin and PRS. But if I had to choose between 24.75 and 25.5 I'd have to go with the latter. Bass notes just speak better with the longer scale making for a tighter rhythm sound. And since playing guitar is about 90% rhythm....

Out of three guitars I have three different scales....

25.5
25.1
24.75

I don't really have a preference for scale.

I voted strat, but I actually am more and more starting to prefer baritones (27-29")

i like strat scale better and play it most of the time but you do get a different tone from the shorter scale and sometimes it fits better. i like the increased definition of the notes and higher tension

I choose fender but i like les paul also, i think the thing i like about fender is that my fingers seem to fit between the frets better.

i can't believe there were not more les paul scale votes yet, maybe they are coming

The longer the scale the more in tune the guitar plays and the more authoritive the low E will sound. The only advantage for me of a shorter scale is I don't have to bend a string as far to bring it up to the pitch I'm bending to. I like 25 1/2". Lew

I like 25 1/2" scale. That's what I've played 99% of the time. I do like 24 3/4" too but am more comfortable with 25 1/2".

25 1/2" - it just feels right for my hands, i dont mind playing les paul necks, but the strat neck just feels like home

very informative, I like 25.5" myself. I didn't include the others because they are "modern" scale lengths and didn't want to include them. My Carvin is 25" and I like that too.

The tension from 25.5" scale necks just feels very "right." I have 24.75" scale guitars, and they're not bad, but they do feel loose sometimes and can sound darker.

Eh, sorry but you're still wrong.

The Fender Jaguar was around in 1962. Carvin had their 25" scale up and running by the mid-70's. You just weren't complete! Don't try to justify it now, after the fact!

I voted Fender scale. 24.75" feels sloppy to me, like I'm playing a bag of wet noodles. Of course, you can compensate for this by increasing the string gauge.

I like Gibson scale much better. Perhaps part of that is because I find Gibsons in general more comfortable, but who knows. I've never found it to be too loose or anything.

I'm a Gibson kind of guy, always have been. Strats just don't feel comfortable to me, that's why I've never owned one for more than 2 weeks!
But I did play a PRS the other day, and considering getting one.

gibson. Even though i have big hands, I love gibson scale.
