Which to sell...hard times hitting

Ok, so it looks unavoidable that I have to sell one of my guitars. Sad time for me. It's down to my Jackson slatxmg3-6 with EMG 81/85 or my Charvel DS-2 with upgraded Seymour Duncan Blackouts. I know neither is a top of the line but I really enjoy both. Which would you sell if you had to choose?

Re: Which to sell...hard times hitting

Years ago I hit some bad times and had to sell some gear. I kept the stuff that I was actually using to gig and make money with, but that meant selling my vintage pieces, like a '60 Strat, a '64 Tremolux amp and and cab, and a '65 Deluxe Reverb. The amps were dead mint, and I had to sell them for a fraction of what they would be worth today. Just killed me, but had to be done. I kept my two Mesa amps because I could gig with them and pay the rent.

I realize this might not apply to your situation. It's hard though, and hopefully things will be better for you when you get through this.

Keep the faith.

I have a lot of trouble selling the guitars i treasure so much, And if i ever have to sell one i try and make sure that some of the money goes into a project or something to replace it.

I had a yjm usa strat i sold, that was a bit rough.

Right now is about the worst possible time to sell any gear. It's been a buyer's market for several years. You're going to get raped.

I feel for ya... as I tend to buy high and sell low a lot of the time. :(

I had to sell a handful of guitars not too long ago to repair the transmission in my car (also now gone). It killed me to have to let several of them go, including a KILLER Hamer EchoTone and Ibanez SZ720 that I had just gotten.

I kept the 3 that mean the most to me. 2 of them I built.

Do you still have the stock pickups in the Charvel? My suggestion for the DS-2 is that you replace the pickups with the originals, sell the Charvel and then hoepfully you can pick another one up when you are financially able to purchase a guitar again...both are nice guitars but not rare old ones that would be hard to replace IMO...just my two cents. Sorry you have to sell, I'm trying to sell an Ibanez Prestige and have only been given laughable low ball offers on it...like people offer me the price of an Ibanez Gio for my Prestige...hope you can sell!

Re: Which to sell...hard times hitting

Keep what would be hardest to re-buy when times get better.

And what Bill said, make the move that makes recovery easiest or quickest.

Not to be a donnie downer, but Red Label is right. I wish I had fat stacks of cash to rake in some primo gear, but I dont. Im in the same boat and need to move some gear too, but its a bummer to have to sell and even more so at such a loss, but gotta do it.

As far as which to sell, keep the one that inspires you most is the only advice I can offer. Good luck
