White Lion Vito Bratta pickup

Re: White Lion Vito Bratta pickup

Pride (1 and 3) was supposedly a 59 (or a JB, who knows?) into Leslie West's old Marshall; 2 is supposedly EMG into ADA MP-1 and solid state power amp.

I have JB2 with 1 meg pot and I have close tone. But I'm interested in TB-59 bridge tone. What is the difference between JB and 59?

Re: White Lion Vito Bratta pickup

1 and 3 sound like a 59 to me, there could be studio EQ magic going on, but I don't hear the magic and unique JB in that. It really sounds more PAF'esque. The difference between a JB and 59 would be that the 59 has a more solid and present bass, especially when palm muting. The 59 doesn't break up as fast either, and on single note runs they are completely different animals. The JB has a singing quality no matter what magnet is used, that makes me want to play fluid single note shred stuff often. While the 59, at least for me, makes me want to play more rhythm, but not by much. The 59 also has a less smooth gain sound, it's rougher and more growly.

I really like tone of my JB2 with 1Meg pot, but it don't have dynamic, is too compressed.
59 would be better for me?

Re: White Lion Vito Bratta pickup

Well, the 59 cleans up better and does have more dynamics at lower gain. If you really like the JB, then the Perpetual Burn may be what you want, it cleans up better, has better dynamics, and reminds me of a mix between the Pearly Gates +, 59, JB, Custom, and Custom 5. It has a similar output to the Custom 5, and I think it has better dynamics then the Custom 5 with way more mids. I may try an alnico 2 in a Perpetual Burn today, if I do I will let you know how close it sounds to a JB with an alnico 2, magnet swaps don't always do what one expects, but most of the time they do. But yeah the JB isn't a dynamics master, but as far as higher output goes it is the most dynamic one I have ever played. If you want the most dynamic humbucker possible, your looking at a 7.6-8.5k'ish PAF thing.
