I always kind of liked the slight contrast of aged with totally white pick guard. Sets things off a touch. Could get aged white knobs too. In fact, I have a Kramer Strat like that....
Easy enough to get new covers if I don't like it. But I see what you are saying.
Edit: You stated pickup covers. My vote for the covers would be aged white.
I’m changing the pickguard on my Strat to parchment (stock) and the knobs to aged white knobs. I think the aged white offsets the parchment. Adds a little more detail.
I just saw Yngwie 2 weeks ago. He used a yellowed/white Strat all night. The band was squeezed over in the left 10 feet of the stage, and he had the rest. Drums right on the stage without a riser. Yng was fantastic, but didn't have the dexterity as he did in the late 80s.
While I dig the aged/parchment look, I'm going to go all white. This is a "less is less" project (As the screaming' swede would say).
- Don't want to futz with the middle pickup since not using it
- Guitar is getting a new look vs aged
- Majority I have seen are all white. Aged ones are rare.
So I'm going with white.
But thank you all for the thoughts - I do generally agree. Maybe I'll get covers and knobs at a later date.
