Who else has helpers?

Re: Who else has helpers?

Man those two dogs must hear EVERYTHING!

My cat, Bean. He thinks he's a sound tech. He fetches Velcro strips, steals my hand tools and likes raisins.

I got him from the SPCA and at 4 months old he already had a reputation there as a trouble-maker. 50 or so cats in the cat room and the guy in charge of it said "Oh, Bean" when I asked to see him.

He finds vinyl oddly relaxing.

Bean looks like a playful one. We have one cat and she just isn't interested in what I do. The dogs, on the other hand like music and will curl up while I practice or when there's a good song on Pandora.

They do. There can be no dogs in the house and if I open the fridge or undo a ziplock, they're both suddenly sitting at my feet to see if anything will come their way.

Re: Who else has helpers?

It's like they teleport or something.

Bean is that way with Velcro strips. Say I'm packing up some cables for a gig...instant cat....an then he's all inside the case with the cables trying to unwrap a strip from around a mic or guitar cable. He just hears that "veeerp" sound that velco makes and thinks it time to play fetch!

Re: Who else has helpers?

As I took this picture, my oldest son scolded my younger son "it's a tool, not a toy,"

I have never been prouder in my life. Not only is my oldest son carrying on my grievous trait of scolding, but he's doing to people too young to understand to boot. Extra points there.

Both boys love a project and love helping dad in the garage. We weren't working on guitars this day, but these boys know a lot about how to stay safe in the woodshop. You could ask them right now - "what's the most important thing in the woodshop?" and they'd yell, as they've been conditioned "your fingers!"

Outstanding. :bigthumb:

Re: Who else has helpers?

Most of the time, Super Simon is too busy saving the world to help me with my guitars, but occasionally he has time to hang out with Trip and I.

Re: Who else has helpers?

Actually, when I pick up my guitar he literally runs out of the room! So at least we know he's smart :13:

I had a cat many years back that did the same thing. He just didn't dig the cranked Fender Twin/tube screamer thing I guess.

This is a great thread.

Re: Who else has helpers?

I haven't been working on any guitars lately, but Nigel seems to have a thing for bass amps.

He also helps out with the packing and shipping.

Re: Who else has helpers?

I posted that on Craigslist when I tried to sell the amp, "cat not included".

Re: Who else has helpers?

When I lived in Australia, Millie the Border Collie was a helper. These days it is Mica on a Laney.

Mica doesn't mind my playing around the house, but the beer soaked blues bar gigs that I play are not to his taste!
