Re: Who has 2 or more of the same amp ?
I have 2 ADA MP-1s, that run into a Marshall 9100 power amp. It is a very inconvenient way of using a Boss DC-2 in stereo. That thing sounds fantastic – it is by far the most attractive chorus-type stomp box I know – but there is some clipping even when using it in front of the amp. I wish I could find a version that could have been used in the effects loop (or rather between the pre-amp and the power amp), but that is completely impossible with the standard unit.
Interesting. Is it a problem with the DC-2's input design where it requires Instrument-level signal? I can't get to the back of my MP1 at the moment, but I thought there was a switch for Instrument vs Line, or at least a knob to control the volume of the loop?
Do you have a compressor/peak limiter between the DC-2 and the guitar? That might help with the clipping if it only happens when you bash the strings.
Wondering also if it can be modded to accept line level signal without losing the original character?
As for the original question, I have a JCM800 and TripleRec, and the Line6 AM-4 Amp Modeler floor unit, which has models for the JCM800 and TripleRec.
I also have 3 Digitech GSP-21 rack preamps (A Pro, a Pro with the Legend upgrade chip, and a Legend), and 2 stock ADA MP-1s.
Then there's the "only one" items like a GSP1101 and Bass POD.
Everything runs into a 10-channel line mixer which gives basic channel volume and panning. Setting each unit (aside form the Bass POD) to a different piece of the tonal pie and having them all running to a stereo track is a beautiful but highly volatile thing.
Can you say "weaponized fundamental harmonics"?
You can't take the Gain above "slightly dirty" on anything without causing problems, and I even have the AM-4 set to a totally clean amp model (Fender Twin IIRC), and that makes chords clear and articulate, and lead lines have an underlying punch.
Once I get moved into my new place and get it all set back up, I'll throw up a short clip of it, if I can capture it correctly, and not blow my monitors out.
