Who has 2 or more of the same amp ?

Re: Who has 2 or more of the same amp ?

I don't own two of the same amp yet, but I hope to in the near future. I have a Marshall Jubilee 2555, but it's kinda rare / valuable while also being heavy and LOUD. It has a great master volume and sounds acceptable at home practice levels, but it doesn't really give up the goods until the output master is at 2.5 - 4. It's a great amp, but just too loud except for large rooms which is where the second amp comes in. I have SERIOUS G.A.S. for a new Mini Jubilee 2525H which should be perfect for recording, home practice, and smaller gigs. I also have both an Egnater Rebel 112X and an Earcandy Buzz Bomb 2x12, both loaded with Eminence Wizards @ 16 ohms. With both heads and both cabs I'll have three different rigs which should work pretty much anywhere I see myself playing.

The dude that sold me my AOR - had an 800 and a Jubilee :-) and he said that he is a HUGE Ratt fan and he was very sentimental about an AOR because of that, but he found himself playing more and more through Jubilee and AOR was just not getting enough playing time. The dude also recommended me an amp tech that i still use 10 years later ... you Jubilee dudes are alright :-)

Re: Who has 2 or more of the same amp ?

Considering that before 2010 I ran a mismatched stereo rig for over a decade I realise that they were always different amps. For a year I used a Diezel VH2S rack prototype power amp with EL34 tubes and it was dual monoblock with two separate inputs so it could eat two different preamps but it's not the same as two identical heads.

Anyway I stuck to certain type of amps: EL34, 50W. Back in time I had a JCM800, an SL-X and an AOR. I loved / played the SL-X the best. JCM800 was the most versatile. AOR was the most reliable. I sold all of them when my spine tried to kill me with pain around 2011-12. Conditions improved and due to a mysterious disturbance of the time-space continuum the very same SL-X became sold back to me that I used many years ago.

Because of spine limitations, I seriously doubt that I'll use a double rig again. Would I do anyway with an another 2500 SL-X? If someone else lifts them, without hesitation.

I have an EVH 5150 III 50 watt, and the EVH 5150 III LBX as a travel amp for backup

Another AOR alumni - awesome! I find AOR very versatile especially with push/Pull EQ - those things can really make the amp breathe fire. And low sensitivity channel with pedals is very multi dimensional, plus what AORs are really famous for - really responsive to different tubes, some times it can be a totally different amp with right set of pre-amp tubes. Having said that, did you ever try to do stereo run of AOR and 800? They are distant cousins of sorts after all ... :-)

Had I know the Valvestate VS100 combo was so cool(for me),I'd've also gotten the head only version that was in the other Pawnshop around the corner...

Re: Who has 2 or more of the same amp ?

I have to look further into this. Truth be told I got two more or less by coincidence almost ten years ago, and as I was turned off by playing for quite some time all my gear has mostly been in storage for a few years, so I haven't fiddled with the amps (or, for that matter, the pedal) nearly as much as I ought to. There might be a way to get it to work, though. I'm not quite sure regarding the pedal either, but I remember being annoyed by it on occasion. From what I've understood other people have had the problem with the pedal as well, so I've assumed it's a design flaw. Perhaps it might be amended. At the moment they are also in a completely different part of the world, but I'll have a look at it when I go home for Christmas. Thanks a lot for the suggestions!

I scouted around and found the manual for the DC-2. It says it has 1Meg Input Impedance and "Over 10k" Output Impedance. Unfortunately, the MP-1 manual doesn't state the I/O Impedance for the FX loop, and the ones I'm seeing on Ebay show a Line/Instrument Level switch under the edge of the top cover (I guess remove the cover each time you want to switch? PITA), as well as a Level control.

I've used the Loop in mine once or twice over the years, but actually got a better sound just running the main Output into the front of my TSR-12, so never really dug that deep into it.

I did find a DC-2 review that mentioned a gritty/breakup sound when using it, so maybe it's supposed to do that?

Anyhoo, the Line6 M13 has a model of either this or the DC-3, and one of those settings matched the warbly Chorus effect on the intro to Metallica's Welcome Home (Sanitarium), which I though was an interesting point.

The only thing I've ever used my MP-1's loop for is a noise gate; like you I always ran an effects processor after the stereo outs.

Another more rack-friendly option for the dimension sound is the Line6 Mod Pro. They're no longer made, but can occasionally be found used for $200-250. As a bonus it's midi-controllable and contains a bunch of other cool modulations in addition to the Dimension D model.

Re: Who has 2 or more of the same amp ?

I have a couple of Blackstar HT-5's that I like to run together in stereo.

Re: Who has 2 or more of the same amp ?

id like 2 get another RG100es.... also i would love to get a custom amp based off an 70's ampeg V4 rack mountable and in stereo:) so i would provbable be either a like a v2 but in stereo 50 watts per side or two v4's runing into a rack effect for stereo

Always wanted a V4 for cleans running through some EV's probably 2X12 and 1X15 and have a randall for dirt running through atleast a celestian loaded 4X12

Re: Who has 2 or more of the same amp ?

I never have two of anything that are exactly the same, but close. So they can be used as backups for each other, but each also gives me something different/extra I can use. I have two Vox AC30s, one hand-wired, one not but solid cabinet (not pressboard). Those I bought because each time the deal was too good to pass up. One was a refurb for an insanely low price and the other was a demo deal for an insanely low price. I also have a Marshall SL-X and 1960AV cab, and a hand-wired 'boutique' JTM45 and 1960BX cab. Not quite the same animals, but I can set them up so the difference in tone is about the same as the difference between two of the 'exact same' model guitar (if that makes sense).

Re: Who has 2 or more of the same amp ?

I would love to have two 6505+ amps, 1 main and 1 back up but I can't afford an extra one right now plus I can't justify having two on the road as my band isn't at the stage to be cranking the tubes every night so much they might blow up.
