Re: Who Here has Duncan Custom Shop Pickups?

i have some strat pups, a tele pup, and some buckers. they are all great pups for what they are. a 9.4k antiquity is MONEY in the bridge straight into a nice amp

Jeremy..... do you mean a humbucker antiquity or a strata antiquity at the bridge? Did you just ask them to wind you one at 9.4? Any other special features? I want to have MJ wind me a set of Antiquity humbuckers, so if I pay for the full custom shop wind I might as well get something not ordinary. I don't want a regular set to sound too close to my Greenie set.

Thanks.

yes a humbucker and yes i asked them to wind me a 9.4k antiquity. i had a 10k antiquity with a full strength magnet before that as well. i loved the 10k in the bridge of my chambered tele but in a lp it was a little too much so i got the 9.4k made. cant remember if i got the full strength magnet since this was like 15 years ago but they are great pups. you lose a touch of tight focus on the bottom and the highs are a little thicker as you go up in wind so i assume i used a full strength magnet. its more aggressive and fatter, single notes sound huge but chords still hold together really well

Awesome Jeremy, thank you. That sounds like a really cool twist to the normal Antiquity.

Cool. What's so awesome about it? Gain, clean, split? I'd like to hear some details. It's one set I've been looking at myself.

The one I had was single-conductor w/ braided shield, so no splitting. It came stock in the bridge of my Charvel 25th Anniversary, and I only really played into an overdriven Marshall with it. My favorite thing about it was the 3D quality of the tone; it reminded me of a 335 with that little something extra compared to a Les Paul. I honestly didn't care for it clean, but I typically don't like bridge humbuckers clean. In fact the lack of a neck pickup is one of the factors that lead me to sell the 25th.
