I've always loved sunbursts, but I've got a fascination for the traditional fender reds lately: Candy Apply Red, Fiesta Red and Torino Red (or was it Dakota Red? Hm..).

Now that is a nice burst.

I never used to like bursts when I was younger, but just like Teles and Strats they've grown on me as I've gotten older.

I love them. I only think sunburst works on a Strat if it has a maple fingerboard. I have one just like my beloved Adrian's (avatar).

I also love Aged Cherry sunburst and Sienna sunburst. That's numbers 31 and 47 here.

That's his own Floyd Strat. He only got it about 2 weeks ago, if that.

I grew out of the lighter colored bursts (my first real guitar was a Gibson Les Paul Standard and that was a cherry sunburst). For the past year or two, I've been digging tobacco sunbursts (never used to like 'em).

It's hard to talk about bursts as a single entity as even among just a single type -- say, normal yellow-red-black/brown 3-tone sunburst -- there is a much variation as in syaing "red." Some reds are great, some are flat and boring. And that's true of bursts as well. On the whole, I like them, but I've seen some pretty awful ones here and there as well.

When i'm looking at the rack of Les Pauls at the local store i seem to really enjoy the brown sunburst ones the most.. My 76 is a brown sunburst too... I really would like a Goldtop oneday but from what they have in stock i like the Brown sunburst over the cherry bursts...

My 94' Heritage cherry sunburst.

The sad thing is that the stock pickups were neer returned to me when i changed them and the best thing is that the technician who changed it was fired afew days later.

until a few years ago when i started expanding the aresenal, i only owned two guitars and they were both bursts (the ibanezes in my profile pic) ... i've added a few since that arent ... but i still GAS for a vintage cherryburst LP (robert_s's is the definitive example) and a fireglo 12 string ric (a la TP) ...

I love heritage cherry sunbursts on a Les Paul with a nice flamed top. GJs 'reverse burst' strats are pretty spectacular too.
