The Dean Trans Am is really, really nice. Due to design (specifically, location of strap button), it balances better than the traditional Gibson/Epi body. Stock Dean pickups are usually quite usable, and the guitars just feel solid.
Diamond (formerly) DBZ has the Hailfire, which also feels solid but is more traditionally balanced like the Gibson/Epi body (i.e., 1st fret feels a mile away). Diamond also has really interesting finishes, if that's your thing.

If you do have the money to spend on a Kauer Banshee, you'll get a guitar built exactly how you want it by the loving hand of that sexy bearded man Doug Kauer.

Yeah, Gibson tried suing Doug, so the Banshee V2 has a few different curves.

The Dillion's are so hit or miss IME, I've played some killer Dillion's but I've played a high ratio of pigs.
Tokai also makes a pretty nice FB style guitar. I think they too had to change their's a bit but if you can find them they tend to be pretty good. They're MIC btw

The Hailfire models from Diamond Guitars look pretty similar to Firebirds. I believe they were designed by Dean Zelinsky. Not sure of their quality, but list price is under $800.
