I could make a redundant post +1ing someone or quoting someone, but it's already been covered, so I'm not gonna.

I will say I was listening to live in Gdansk last night and I really want to get crack'n on building my Strat.

I have one... I just don't dig single coils. Beck and Malmsteen might be two reasons I stick one in the neck at some point.

Nobody. I've already been down that road. Got one 'cause I liked the way Glimour, Clapton, and Hendrix sounded. Sold it because I hated the way Alec Lee sounded with one.

Knopfler, Gilmour, SRV, Beck and Clapton are NOT the reasons I like Strats.

They're great but I don't care about their playing. Flame away.

Blackmore and Malmsteen's tones are why I like 'em.

jolly those videos are awesome & I really love Doyles playing. But I think the tone that drew me to a Strat in the first place was The Wind Cries Mary & All along the Watchtower. Both are quite different but both are just killer tone & of course its Jimi!







All 3 of these videos are all Strats. TWCM was done through a Marshall as well as All Along the watchtower, but Voodoo Child was recorded through a Dual Showman hooked up to either 6 10" or 8 10" I can't remember. I saw a video of Eddie Kramer talking about it(I think it was the Wah Wah video). this I find amazing on how he got that sound out of a Fender amp!

I went down that road with the Les Paul...works for other people. They make me sound like a mud pie.

Hendrix was my first reason for strat gassing. SRV had a hand in it, too. But I've gotten to the point where I can do a reasonable imitation of myself on just about any guitar.

Jimi sounded like Jimi whether he had a Strat, a V or whatever. Honestly I think I liked his Flying V tone the best. *dodges tomatoes*



Of course, if you're Yngwie... you can have both...

The only reason I'd consider getting a strat is Malmsteen.

But ironically, the only thing about Malmsteen I'm not really that crazy about is his tone (...pretty shrill) :scratchch

yeah, Yngwie Malmsteen for me too lol, plus Hendrix and Beck. though I have a strat body sitting around waiting for a neck, might go 12-22 scalloped frets and call it even
