Re: Who plays newer BC Rich?

I have two of the older import Gunslinger Retros in Neon Green, I got them a while back they came with rockfield mafia pickups which were soon re-placed with an sh 13 and a j 50 bc both play really well for what I paid for them (they are b-stock) only thing wrong was a flaw in the paint. A little bright sounding but awesome none the less. BTW the new import model Retro Gunslingers arent what they used to be.

true, they were awesome when they first came out. My bud bought a yellow one and it had a Dimarzio Super D. I picked up a black Bstock and it had the rockfield in it, and the tone wasnt quite as beefy. (the guitar itself, not just the pup) Still has a great feel to the neck tho.. I thought his yellow was kinda ugly, but id like to have had it just for the way it sounded and played

Re: Who plays newer BC Rich?

I played a 10 string bich recently that was a platnium series I believe and the fit and finish on it was really good, however I would try my best to put my hands on one before I purchased it just so to be sure its what your looking for.
Yes, I prefer to play a guitar before buying it. These days though with all the online shops offering great deals it is tempting to just order one.

I think I am just going to see if I can hit some pawn shops in the bigger cities and see what they have to offer. I want to try out a few before I decide on the one I want. It is hard though because many of the guitars on my list are not found in my local shops, they are only found by ordering them through the shop or using online dealer.

Stay away from the Platinum series. They're crap. I don't care how cheap they are. As long as the NJ you're buying is Neck Thru you should be fine.

I just did some more research...I was mistaken as I thought the Platinum series was just under the NJ but I think I was mixing it up with another series.
I think I will be getting a NJ series..if I get a BCR.

Re: Who plays newer BC Rich?

How were those archtop Bich models from a few years ago? Those were slightly tempting but that it was Platinum series (IIRC) and IIRC the Widow headstock is what deterred me.

Also are those Stealth ONES crappier than the base model Bronze series? I'm so far removed from BC Rich (haven't considered a BC Rich after mid/late 90s so I am way out of the loop. The Gunslinger imports looked like a pale comparison of the late 80s NJ Gunslingers, and now apparently there is an even cheaper Gunslinger model reissue 2.0 as it were. Not sure if they are further hindering the image of BC Rich with these tactics.

Re: Who plays newer BC Rich?

The Stealth isn't a line so much as a model. I'm not sure they're even making those outside the USA custom shop. It's a tribute/sig model for Chuck Shuldiner from Death.

Bronze is below Platinum however.

I only saw this through the great deals thread on HC for $399 or was it $299?

How much are those Pro X models and where are they manuafactured?

Re: Who plays newer BC Rich?

Blood Rose it is neck through actually which would be a step up from set neck. Someone added a Dimarzio bridge. And the price is $343

Are these on par with NJ Series or Platinum Series? I liked the 80s where you knew which series a guitar was in, now things sort of seem willy nilly. A couple of years ago there was the Warlock IT which was like a glued in neck through guitar. Do they still make those? Were those like a higher end NJ series?

Re: Who plays newer BC Rich?

I just bought myself an Ironbird pro (spalted maple) online. I've had my eye on these for over a year now, since they first came out.... finally pulled the trigger yesterday!

I love Ironbirds...guitars don't get any pointier than they do..lol. Tony Iommi used one for a while, briefly... & of course, Trey from Morbid Angel, probably my favourite BC Rich shape, along with the Warlock. My only previous experience with BC Rich was a a Korean Warlock I had in the early 90's...it sounded and played really well...great guitar!

This one is Chinese & seems to be well put together from the reviews. The new pro series stuff is apparently very good...quality-wise. I hope that's true..

Maple neck-through, mahogany wings, ebony fingerboard (24 5/8" scale with 24 frets), Grover tuners, single EMG 81 bridge, Floyd Rose original tremolo ...great specs for the price!

Re: Who plays newer BC Rich?

I have 2 USA'S =1976 m/bird shorthorn, & 1984 BICH(my fav gtr) in the last 1 1/2 i have purchased 3 different korean bich's,all on ebay used, 1 is spalted, 1 is supposedly korina, the last 1 is a perfect 10,using 6 strings(dragon's blood red) , i have installed s/d jazz (bridge) in the neck slot, of the spalted & korina, i just got a jazz (neck/chrome) from here, i'm in the process of installing it in the perfect 10, with a chrome JB-8 (bridge), i was actually taking a break ,when i saw this post, just installed grover mini locking 18-1 tuners , which i have on all 3 korean bich's, i have had all 3 K/ bich's necks shave down as they are too fat & chunky for me , to sum it all up, i like the K bich gtrs, i just change the tuners & pickups, & shave the necks, i would love to have another USA bich, but they are expensive, BTW i fogot i have 2 Korean m/birds one red , one cherryburst..i would post pics, but never ever figured out how to post them here, they dont come up used very often on ebay, but if the right color comes up on my saved search, i may have # 4..

Re: Who plays newer BC Rich?

Here's my Bich doubleneck, which now has an A2P bridge and Eric Johnson neck in the twelve string side. It is one of the best playing guitars I own and have ever owned, and the fret access is incredible. It is a rock and metal monster and since I moved the straplock to behind the twelve neck instead of the upper horn, the balance and weight distribution is muuuuch better. With all that wood and the tapping and phase options, it gets more sounds than I'll ever need. Just a fantastic guitar, especially for the money.
