Who plays pro with Epi LP??

I have an Epi Ace Frehley (Black flame top) with 3 dimarzio super d's. I keep thinking, its just an EPI, I need a "real" LP.. But everytime I record with it, it always impresses me. It plays great and sounds great.. Its just light... 6 Lbs for a LP. Feels kinda like a toy.. but, everytime I play a gibson lp, I walk away un impressed.
Any of you all play gigs with an Epi and can give a brother some encouragement?

if you like it, it doesnt matter what the label says on it.
i know some people on this board whom are very talented whom use guitars taht dont cost a fortune. gamano 9rob) uses a squire for a demo song we got that was amazing, bui just made a great clip with a sx strat, and im sure i can think of a few more......


if it works for your sound, then whatever it is is gold.

Well, I don't play pro, but I have been playing an Epi LP for a few years now and really can't complain much about the guitar. It's been a good player, has kept in tune (with the help of Sperzel's) just fine, and is structurally sound.
I came within an inch of buying a Gibson LP recently, but everytime I pick my Epi LP back up I keep thinking about how much money I could have spent.
For the record, I saw Barry Gibb of the BeeGee's play an black Epiphone Wildcat with red flames live during a performance on cable channel A&E once. John Lennon used a Casino.
If your Epi plays, sounds, and feels good to you in the vibe department, then why not use it professionally? It's not the guitar as much as the guy who's playing it.

I couldn't agree more. I have a Cort Strat that I feel does the job, it was affordable when I bought it and its comfortable for me to play...and of course the hotrails in there makes a world of difference too. :)
While I haven't played the Epi Ace Frehley, sounds like its a killer axe.

I got a couple of those Fender Squier Bullet Specials, single hum strats for $ 99 bucks ea. I put a JB in one and a Custom in the other and locking tuners on both, they can shred with the best now. You dont have ta spend a grand to have a good guitar with great tone.

I agree. My Epi is lighter, but it still has a great tone and feel to it. It's not my Gibson, but it still kicks.

another forum member says SEVENDUST epi users get the guitar specifically made by gibson with superb woods and hardware...

but my epi is great for me at this point in my life.

they're probably using upgraded "Elite" guitars.

- Pfft the elitist series is nothing special - just a faded gibson with epiphone written on it (playability wise).


To make you feel better- I play an epi and what do i have to say to you:

IF IT WORKS, DONT GIVE A FLYING FU<K!

I love my epi, drop some duncans in and i've got the ultimate machine for guitar loving baby yeah!
This epi is staying until:
1. It falls apart.
OR
2. I can afford a 3 500 dollar shred guitar like a full on peavey wolfgang custom shop axe.


My epi is the, THE 2nd best axe I have ever played (best is a peavey wolfgang).
I have played gibsons, PRS's, Fenders, Godins - Nothing compares - Epi rox them all away.

I gig 1-4 times a week, to approx. 1000 people a weekend.


BTW - The lead guitarist from "third day" uses an Epiphone with aftermarket pickups.

Pros use cheap guitars all the time...Billie-Joe from Green Day still plays his first guitar -- a Fernandes Strat copy w/ JB bridge. Kurt Cobain used to play old plywood Univoxes, even after he was famous (watch the SNL performance of "Heart-Shaped Box") Lars Frederikson of Rancid played an Epiphone LP custom until he started having back problems -- now he borrows an SG from their bassist.

What I'm saying is, a guitar is a guitar. if YOUR guitar is a cheap beater guitar, then who cares? I'd rather be able to be happy with a plywood POS that plays nice and sounds okay than be one of these guitar snobs who MUST own a $2500 Gibson.

hey, I like hearing feedback concerning the cheaper guitars, as I can't afford to have my expensive one stolen if I ever got a gibson.

the only problem is, if you go to a gig, there are bound to be people looking at what you are playing while you are setting up. some of these people will be like, "what they hell are you playing?", and think you arent serious, and leave.

i dont like these people, but they exist.

Crazy ... 6 years and I never saw one.

Not doubting you ... just I've never seen people like that ... they must be guitarists.

it's kinda rough, but i have to agree. people do tend to link talent and success with the gear you play, even though it makes no sense.

hehe, they are there. next gig you go to (whether it be yours or just a show u go to) look at where the band is unpacking, you will see few people just happen to allways be there.....

i belive the beatles at one point
just look at the site and chekc out the artists section ALOT ofplayers use eiphones.....but the thing is most of them now probably use elitist models and use them as beater guitars that they smahs into peices most likely....BUT

Either way i liek epiphones i was debating on getting one recently i liek them alot but im gonna buy a good am,p instead and save up for a gibson.
