heh because they are glassy and tonelessI really don't know why more people don't like them.
WhoFan said:One tip for making a stock strat sound much more meaty for heavy stuff is a simple tone controll mod.. Fender normally ships the tone controlls to work for Neck and Middle pickups don't they? Reverse the one from the neck to the bridge.... Then you can roll back the tone on the bridge PU and get some nice almost P90 Gibson type tones!

They sound fantastic through my rig. I guess that Roland preamps and Mesa power sections agree with these pickups.
I like this set so much, in fact, that I'm replacing the Albert Lee sig set made by Duncan for EB/MM in my 62 RI with a DG-20 set from EMG.
For live use, I like them better than the Fender CS 62's, Dimarzio VV, APS-2's, Antiquity I's, and pretty much any other strat sized pickup I've had or tried.
I really don't know why more people don't like them.

I know the Vintage Reissues come that way. Any newer MIA model has tone on the bridge. It's usually the bottom tone knob controls the bridge and middle, middle tone knob controls the neck. That's how it is on my MIA and any MIA with the TBX. Newer MIA's have the "Deta" Tone control, which is also "no-load". The MIM's are neck and middle tone only.WhoFan said:Fender normally ships the tone controlls to work for Neck and Middle pickups don't they?
Great point. Most stock strats are equipped like that and a simple modification can do wonders.WhoFan said:One tip for making a stock strat sound much more meaty for heavy stuff is a simple tone controll mod.. Ray: What’s important to you?
Rory: Well, this guitar is part of my psychic makeup. It’s my best friend. I love playing it, I play it every day. It’s not like B.B. King, who’s had like a hundred Lucilles. I’ve only got one Strat, and it hasn’t got a name or whatever. I mean, where I came from at the time, to own a Stratocaster was like, it was monumental, it was just impossible, you know, and it’s what it is. I love playing it, I love singing, like when I get lonesome, I play my guitar. Aach, I’m getting a bit too corny, but that’s it, for me, it’s just playing and singing.
