My favorite bass amps are SS amps. I posted pictures of all 3 of my high power SS heads. Two Seymour Duncan 600w heads and a 900w $WR. While some bass players complain that SS doesn't have "warmth" tube bass heads have too much "sag" for me. I like the immediacy of attack that you get with a SS head. That's not to say I'd turn down a Mesa 400+. :burnout:

i really like crates tiny ss amps. good sound for a paltry price.

My Crate 8"er sounds pretty good...so good that I use it as the speaker for my computer (since my good stereo's downstairs) and it puts out some good tones although Pales in comparison to my headphones but that's understandable...I'd say the problem is the cheap-ass driver that it's got. I haven't tried any other drivers, like celestion or something, but I'd imagine that this one sucks since it just can't handle deep bass...

I just picked up a Line 6 Flextone II that I got for cheap... I know how to get the best sounds out of the presets and its so much fun to play. I love the stuff i get in my POD 2.0 and this'll be a great way to use those sounds live.

Plus, for those of you that have heard the SD UGD jams with Seymour... he was actually using one right up against tons of vintage tube amps and sounded as good as or better than the tube rigs did at points.

One of my favorite SS amps is the old Fender Princeton Chorus. Sweet sweet amp.

I still use one to this day..... My speakers crap out if i turn it up but i do use it a lot in my bedroom.... Hate the new DSP versions! I have owned them since the late 80's..... I had a grey one with reb knobs in 1988.... sold it for an Ultra Chorus.... Sold that and bought a Princton Chorus again... and i now have one that is about 7 years old now.... oneday i want to try more powerful speakers in mine to see what it sounds like for fun.... Or maybe buy an Ultimate Chorus again if i find a late 90's version. Love the clean channel and the anolog chorus is amazing! Wish Fender sold that Chorus in a pedal!

you should really try to check out a VOX Pathfinder 15R. it has a very convincing "vintage" sound. read the reviews on harmony central, i did, and bought one. i was using a fender blues deville 410, but traded it for a strat. the vox sounds really good even though my ears were used to the tube fender. i am very happy. you can also run a seperate cabinet, line out, and headphones.

i think its the best sounding $120 i have heard, and i've had a few really good amps.

I run my pod into my peavey solid state. It takes a lot of tweaking to get a good sound, but in the end, it sounds decent.

I love my Tech 21 Trademark 60. It has great tones and features, and sounds good at bedroom or band volumes. It's a really excellent package for the price.

If you're only going to use it at home, the smaller Trademark 10 might be all you need. Haven't tried one of those but have heard excellent reports.

I have the trademark 10 and its a great sounding practice amp. It actually has a very nice real spring reverb too!

i have a crate gx 212 and its great... on low and high volumes it cuts through everything but i´m thinking about gettin a line 6 amp...
you should check them out.
