I prefer to use few effects. What I do run at times is Delay, Digital Verb and Chorus but only when I need them to cover material. I prefer running straight into the amp when I can.
As I am primarily a modern Worship player however I many times am forced to use delay and verb because of the setting and material I have to cover.

Playing guitar without effects is like having sex without a partner. Sure you can do it. It might even be beneficial when you're learning so you figure out some stuff. Long term though, it's not going to be as satisfying.

wah is it! no other effects pedals really. I do not like the sound of chorus or phaser really...

I might add a delay one day, but my amp's tube reverb is just fine for me

I use a rat pedal, fuzz pedal and noisegate, some might not consider these "effects"

It depends on the situation. When practicing I use no effects and run directlly into the Fender Excelcior, this is 80% of the time I am playing guitar. When playing blues live I also go direct. When rocking out or having some fun it can be any combination of effects or synths.

I am perfectly fine without effects. I currently only have a trem and delay but those are both up for sale.

Crybaby and the amp's built in reverb or delay (dependng on my mood). Most of the time it's reverb. When I'm running my Marshall, I put delay/echo in the loop. I got rid of everything else.

I prefer to *play* with as few effects as possible, but I'll add them in the context of the song if I'm recording.

ya, that is the thing about delays, they need to go in the loop, and that involves muck-y-muck! (cables)

Overdrive/Distortion is my only effect... so I guess I don't plug straight into the amp.

I've done both over the years, just depends on the band and what you need, I guess. I've gigged covers stuff with zero effects, and millions of effects... and drunk people can never tell the difference, hahaha.

I've currently got a big board... just because.

Same here. I have several effects on my board but use them sparingly anyway but I have done many a gig with only a tuner.... very liberating and inspiring when all goes well, quite embarrassing when it doesn't!

I do, but only if you don't count reverb and tremolo on amps.

the amp has reverb and distorts nicely with the guitar volume up all the way

although I think an EQ may be joining the Effects loop soon

For bass? Zero effects, maybe some onboard amp distortion. I don't know if a BBE sonic Maximizer counts, and I don't have or even think I want a compressor. For guitar?................................................ meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh I'm a minimalist. I have an OCD I use for distortion or boost and a Vox v847 wah I use on occasions but that's it.
