Who uses the Custom Custom?

I have tried most of the Duncan Humbuckers in the bridge of my Fender American Stratocaster, and IMHO the CC has the best Tone I have ever heard.:smokin:

Re: Who uses the Custom Custom?

It's the pickup that Duncan has often recommended for people trying to nail the early Van Halen tone, which is clearly loved by so many. Warm (tamed highs), yet with enough mids to give you a powerful tone, and enough output to easily drive the front end of your amp.

Re: Who uses the Custom Custom?

I've been using it for 13 years and own two. One is in my '88 Baretta but started off in my Frankenstrat. The other went between my Frankenstrat and Epi LP. It's currently back in my LP. It's my absolute favorite production line Duncan. I'd love to see a 'Lil CC for Strats. :)

Re: Who uses the Custom Custom?

I've had mine for about ten years. I really feel it's a fairly unusual/unique sounding pup. But I'm never at a loss to find great sounds, and I'm surprised at some of the places I've used it and it was great -even though I didn't think it would the pup of choice. For the neck, I recommend the PG as an excellent combo.

Re: Who uses the Custom Custom?

I don't like VH, but I love my CC. It's one of my fave all time Duncan 'buckers (the Pearly Gates edges it out by a bit :) ).

Re: Who uses the Custom Custom?

I first had mine in my Strat, and then my Love Rock. I liked it in both guitars but it now resides in my Tele, were it is pure perfection.

Re: Who uses the Custom Custom?

will a CC work in a silver maple guitar? I don't know much about that wood (in my Godin Solidac).

It's my favorite production passive. Awesome pup, either full humbucker or split.

Paytojt: I can't say for sure about your particular guitar, but I haven't heard of a guitar it didn't sound good in. Actually, with a bright guitar like maple, that low-mid spike from the CC might make it a very good choice.

See that pickup right there?

<------------

That's a Custom Custom Trembucker in my 1990 PRS CU24.

Re: Who uses the Custom Custom?

It's one of my favorite Duncans. It's about the only higher output pickup I know of with an Alnico 2 in it. Other than some of my home brews...
