WHO WOULD DO SUCH A THING?............................................ ...............

I modded my 1968 Fender Silverface Vibro Champ.............no turning back. i am extremely happy with the results.
I removed the original speaker, cut the speaker opening larger and installed a 10 inch 4 ohm Peavey Scorpion speaker. Definitely a keeper and sounds louder and the tone much improved,

Is changing a speaker a mod.?
Is that a 10 inch or something.?
But yeah...all the stock speakers I have ever heard in those amps were wimpy at best.
Just about any 8", modern day speaker would be a vast improvement.

Just beware you don't start getting a selection of religious artefacts being burnt on your lawn - you might want to invest in some fire suppression apparatus...

Absolutely. The Scorpion is a higher efficiency speaker which means less power makes more sound pressure level. In this amp, it is bulletproof and the tone is greatly improved. It sounds like a bigger amp.

Yes, it is a 10 inch speaker. Much better sound and makes the amp sound bigger and more powerful.

I'm sure it sounds nice. Personally, I would have built a new combo cabinet, or just run what was there into an extension cab. But, hey. At least it isn't something rare and historic.

P.S. Did Vibro-Champs not have the trim ring around the grille in '68?

I really do not know. Perhaps someone here might know that. i purchased this amp like you see it except for them changes that i did.

The Drip Edge was kind of a fickle time line.....

Not sure what you are talking about though. Are guys giving you shi(t for the 10Inch Mod.?
That just means you enlarged the baffle hole...right.?
Easy to make an 8 Inch baffle.

A SF Vibro Chjamp has been a 250-400 Dollar amp for a long time. Cannot see how the baffle should cause lost sleep for anybody.

Naw........and I wouldn't be worried about anyone else's opinion if they were unhappy with my choice and modification. I am just having fun showing my amp and possibly giving others ideas about how to improve tone.
