Whoo Hooo! Strat project almost done

Frito's Better Half
for awhile I've been moddin my No 1 strat. Right now I'm sanding off the finish to the bare wood so I can stain it brown. I'm gonna put the neck and middle RC pickups I get from mrid in my mint green pickguard w/ real vintage aged pickup covers and a split hotrails in the bridge, and the RC neck too. Man, I cant wait. Right now I've gotta get an electric sander, since the one that I had over heated and kinda went to sh*t. I'll post pics when I'm done guys! whoo hoo!

Very cool buddy....I guess you already saw my blue strat that I put together with the Surfers?
My bass player calls it the "blue bomber" :smack: :13:

Re: Whoo Hooo! Strat project almost done

Yeah, that strat looked pretty awsome John. I wish I could, but I just really cant get into blue guitars. 'Cept for Chrome Blue, but that's only on those Am strats and I just cant pull out cash like that from my ass, ya know? :D I sanded the finish off, it was black, and it had a red stain as a primer, you ever seen something like that? I figured it was probably a screw up, but I dont see one. And the bodies 1 peice, so that's friggin kick ass. I cant wait to get the back sanded down, then it's stained, and all I have to do is wait for mrid to deliver. Ooooooh, I cant wait.

Re: Whoo Hooo! Strat project almost done

using glass? what'dya mean by that? it's almost done, I just gotta do the sides and insides of the horns, then it gets stained and destressed.

Re: Whoo Hooo! Strat project almost done

Screw waiting til it's finished, I want pics now! A compare and contrast kinda thing.

Re: Whoo Hooo! Strat project almost done

Does that work for a poly finish? cause I'm almost done and I dont wanna have to go break some glass, even though I will if I have to. Thats a great idea for neck radius' though.

Re: Whoo Hooo! Strat project almost done

Well, it's a little too late for it now, but the next time I'll use it. and I wont do anymore work on the body until I get some before shots.

Re: Whoo Hooo! Strat project almost done

Don't let our want of pics slow you down, go for it if you have the chance before you can take pics!

Re: Whoo Hooo! Strat project almost done

Not on this one man, it's beautiful, but if you insist I've got a basswood body that could use some spiffin up. PM me and we'll work out the details, cool?

Re: Whoo Hooo! Strat project almost done

YO, BEAN. Is this the same Brown one ya wanted me to do for you?
No big deal, I was just wondering why I haven't heard from you ? :)
Post some pics. I'd love to see your work :D As it is I had a major
setback in the Cherrysunburst Strat I'm doing now. But if ya need a fav.
just let me know. :D

Re: Whoo Hooo! Strat project almost done

yeah, it's the same one. I just needed something to take my mind off everything that's been going on, so I just started sanding. I got some old wood dye that my dad used to use in furniture making, and I'm gonna use that along w/ his book on furniture distressing. GD he's left alot of stuff at my place.
