whoops - impulse buy (carvin content)

Her Little Mojo Minion
I started searching for speakers to replace a 1 x 12" cab, then I realized I'd rather ditch the whole thing and get a 2 x 12". The cab that I was wanting to change the speaker in is too big for what it needs to be anyway (an epiphone valve jr cab).

I used to have a legacy 4 x 12 with greenbacks, probably my favorite cab of all time - super solid, steel grill, great speakers.

So I realized my dream 2 x 12" is the smaller version of the legacy big boy (now with v30s, which I dig).

They had them marked down on reverb, and in a moment of weakness I hit "submit offer". They accepted and it should be on its way.

I barely have enough room. I need to unload stuff ASAP. Once I get it all set up it should actually make more room since it'll all fit in my man closet. But for a bit my wife may notice an abundance of gear, this is not good.

Not sure what I was thinking or preparing for! I don't play out, I'm not in a band, I just love the full sound of a 2 x 12" and I'm not getting any younger.

I considered going used and a different brand but I've been burned on the last 5 used items or so that I've bought. Something is always wrong, and I'm sick of buying everyone else's junk that I then have to figure out how to fix.

Oh - a big factor in this was that I forgot I had over $200 in my paypal. It was like free money, lol

Congratulations!

I can't wish you "happy new cab day" until it arrives, though.

I agree there is nothing like a 2x12 cab, except for a 4x12, but those have become so impractical so much of the time.
So a 2x12 is the next best thing!

The all black cab is no longer on their site and they sent a new catalog with only the newer ones shown. I guess I bought one of the last of that black older style.

So the cabinet came like a week ago (pretty quickly I may add) - nicely packed by carvin as expected.

While it does sound like a giant pair of juggs in my face, I've had to do some EQ-ing from my normal amp settings which is throwing me off a bit (less mids, less treble & some other adjustments in my gsp which is equivalent to turning the presence down a bit). I'm not sure if it's the cab, the speakers not being broken in, the fact they're are two speakers now instead of one, etc. But I'll post some clips soon.

With the whole Kiesel/Carvin split, you don't hear/see much about the Carvin side anymore.

Have you ever had V30's before? Lots of ways to describe them, from the personal love-hate cliché to them being cab dependent, amp dependent etc. Of course, there is also the Chinese made versus UK made debate.

Yeah it's replacing a 1 x 12 v30 cab. Pretty wild how different yet similar they are. I love pushing more air I know that!
