I'm a sucker for Japanese guitars and am looking at a late 90's Japanese Squier Super Sonic. Looks like a bit of fun that won't cost the earth.

That was the upside-down looking one, I believe. Well, IMO, it has a certain Kurt Cobain/Johnny Ramone appeal. If you can find one cheaply enough, why not? Modify it to your heart's content. (For instance, there MUST be a better location for the selector switch!) Hey, just for devilment, why not buy a left-handed example and play it upside-down?

Thats the thing, not seen a silver sparkle but have my eye on a black one and a creme one. Would prefer the creme but its lot more expensive at the mo.

They come with DD's, dual volume and no tone control, so I might convert one of the volumes into tone pot if I put in some other pups.

Yeah, I'm not sure I can get behind this one.

Although the angled humbucker is a pretty cool touch.

I'm sure that this whole upside-down Fender Jag thang dates back to a photograph of Peter Buck wearing Curt Cobain's blue prototype Jag-Stang.

I'm sure that this whole upside-down Fender Jag thang dates back to a photograph of Peter Buck wearing Curt Cobain's blue prototype Jag-Stang.

Actually the guitar was designed by Joe Carducci who based it on a photo of Jimi Hendrix playing a right handed Jazzmaster flipped upside down.

I've read somewhere that a picture of Hendrix playing a Jag upside down was the inspiration.

I love the look of those, I've been gassing after a sparkle blue one for years. I'd have to change the dual volume, to a vol and a tone tho...
