Wow, you sure got your money's worth on that purchase.

Got paid today so I ordered the last of the parts. Schaller locking tuners, CTS no load tone pot, orange drop 22 UF cap, replacement locking pads, Dimarzio Evolution Bridge and an Air Classic Bridge to put in the neck position. I'm going to set the Kahler with wide spacing so the Evolution is F-spaced.

I made an S -style body, Sapele with figured Redwood top. The new owner just sent me some pics of the body finished in Nitro lacquer

Nothing fancy, but decided to take a swing at doing a burnt knotty pine tele body. It's kinda of esquire spec body minus the neck route.

First coat of Tru Oil. I think I went to light on it. Going to make sure I lay it on thick for the second.

Keeping the rosewood/ebony neck on it. Gotoh vintage style bridge; brass saddles. P Rail neck or PAF type neck. Zhangbucker Tar Paper bridge.

Pine is an interesting wood. That should look pretty good when it's finished.

^^ It is. This build was inspired by Ascension's thread in the pickup lounge. I've been searching old threads here and other forums. I've seen everything from pine being like a subdued ash to basswood. We'll see how it turns out. It's a light body, 3 lbs 6 ounces.

That '51 P-bass I put together upthread is a pine body... it may be the pickup in it or the setup (the pickups is a little further from the strings than I think is normal), but it's actually pretty bright, without basswood's nasal hump.

Update... found a great deal on a swamp ash body on Reverb.com, so changing colors. Getting pretty excited now!

Waiting for the body to arrive (supposed to be next Wednesday) before starting on finishing the neck. The pocket on the body is a little smaller than the heel on the neck, so I'm gonna need to remove a little wood from one of 'em. The headstock is definitely going to be black on the face but I haven't made up my mind for the back of the neck. The back of the body is the same sunburst as the front... any opinions?
